To sell my house?

So I am genuinely wondering what to do.

I am married but ‘moved in’ with DH, so this is a house he bought.

I kept my house and it is let out. We are now looking for a new property.

Original plan was to remortgage mine with both our names on the remortgage. But it seems we can’t release as much as ideally we’d like.

Selling it means we could buy somewhere we really want suited to us. The downside is that I don’t have a ‘fallback home’ and that it was a sort of pension property for the future. Plus there’s a tenant and young family in there …

I'd get a mortgage broker to draw up some actual figures.

If I'm reading it right, you are selling the home you live in (that was originally your dh's home) and buying a (presumably) more expensive house to live in ?

But you can't afford to do that without releasing some equity, either by selling or re-mortgaging your house (that was yours but is now rented out) ?

Won't it be much more difficult to get a mortgage now it is a 'let' rather than your home ?

Once you see the actual numbers, it may be clearer ?
