How to deal with interfering mil on Facebook selling pages!

Hello all. She's generally pretty interfering anyway but this in particularly is peeing me off.

Basically I've been clearing out my house. Getting rid of old stuff. I've done a mixture of selling stuff, giving stuff away on a local
Freebie sure and charity shop. Nothing extreme just making a few pennies and clearing out some room.

She's on all the bleddy local selling pages.

She comments on everything. Oh that's too cheap, don't sell it, I'll have that. Omfg 🤯

I put some of sons old clothes on for free and wants this for this random woman she knows but her son is years younger than DS and won't fit him for a good few years.

Last year when we got rid of our old sofa for a new one she wanted us to keep it in the garage just because her younger son may want it one day. We refused to keep though... council took it away as was a bit battered - it was 10 years old.

I'm just sick of it tbh. I can't really block her can I! I've tried to join some other selling sites she's not on but still goes on market place!

She just doesn't like getting rid of anything or other people doing the same.

She give me a load of my partners brothers off stuff. Old clothes with holes in, old dirty toys that's been lying around etc etc. You try and be polite but I'm sick of it.

Sell it on eBay instead

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 21/09/2021 18:10

Just block her while you’re selling things and unblock her when you’re not.

londonrach · 21/09/2021 18:10

Block her...I've blocked people on Facebook selling site if they fail to turn up or where rude...it's easy to do

Hellodarknessmyoldpal · 21/09/2021 18:12

If she wants anything you're giving away then give her it better in her house than
yours! The rest you could either ignore or directly ask her not to comment on your prices unless she wants to buy. Also stop accepting anything you don't want and be polite but firm about it.

MintJulia · 21/09/2021 18:12

sell via a local page, she doesn't know about.

Jengnr · 21/09/2021 18:12

There’s a button on marketplace where it blocks the listing from friends. Use that.

ljones1990 · 21/09/2021 18:12

You can stop your friends seeing what you sell. There is a option on fb market place.

FluffyWhiteBird · 21/09/2021 18:13

You can totally block her! She's rude, she's the one who's set that standard, so you don't owe her manners. Block her, then delete your posts with her comments on and readvertise.

I didn't realise this. Will look into it. Thank you!

There's definitely an option on Facebook marketplace to block friends from seeing your posts. No other option than to go for that. Can imagine how more than annoying she must be!! That would drive me nuts!! Hmm

Kaley3043 · 21/09/2021 18:16

Even if she doesn't want the items. She comments saying oh too cheap or something. Thing is people don't want to pay much for stuff now. She would rather keep stuff than get rid of cheap buy I just want gone half the time 😅

This!
Horst · 21/09/2021 18:18

Sell on market place and click to hide from friends. Means it won’t be in individual groups though.

dearfanny · 21/09/2021 18:18

I may be wrong, but i think you can block people specifically from seeing your facebook market place

LateDecemberBackInLowB12 · 21/09/2021 18:18

Make another profile as a selling account or get a friend to post for you.

Aquamarine1029 · 21/09/2021 18:19

Fgs, just block her. Life is too short to allow your MIL to run your life.

HungryHippo11 · 21/09/2021 18:20

On Facebook you can tick a box that says "hide this listing from my Facebook friends" OWTTE

ExplodingCarrots · 21/09/2021 18:21

I can't believe I didn't realise this. I'm not great with marketplace. Thank you 💕

I'd block her on Facebook and probably block her in real life too. She sounds like a nightmare.

LittleOwl153 · 21/09/2021 18:54

Is it possible to block just one friend on marketplace? I could really do with selling some stuff without my SIL giving me agro over it. .. but so.e of my other friends might be able to use...

SweetBabyCheeses99 · 21/09/2021 19:04

It’s as explodingcarrots says above - you tick that button on each marketplace listing.

If you are just creating a general post to say that you’re selling something then you can amend the privacy settings for each post too.

Janaih · 21/09/2021 19:08

How infuriating!

BashfulClam · 21/09/2021 23:31

I dunno how I did it but I Have a privacy setting that is everyone apart from one friend. I was arranging a surprise for them so had stopped them seeing it.

pelosi · 22/09/2021 00:05

How about having a different Facebook account for selling? But I agree, block her.
