Been on universal credit a while now after having a mental breakdown due to work stress and now am the sole carer for an elderly relative who is not entitled to state support due to their nationality.

I've been referred to a company that helps people get back into work, had my first two appointments and was going to be emailed a plan of action only to receive a phone call from a manager to tell me they can't help me as I'm not able to commit to 16 hrs a week due to my caring responsibilities (I get some respite but it varies from week to week)

I know mine is a complex case but they didn't even try to help me so I'm feeling even more dejected than before.

Can't help but wonder how much these companies are being paid for this half arsed service...

That must be so upsetting OP. How many hours can you commit to? How long have you been on UC?

I feel so trapped

It varies from week to week when my sister is able to two look after my aunt (she has health issues of her own so is unable to commit to more than a day here or there)

Been on UC for almost 3 years now

Thanks for the reply Fortunesfave 💓
Not sure what kind of response I expected but was hoping to get others views on this predicament
