I opened the bar of 51% dark with seasalt & almond on Saturday & I've just eaten the last piece now.
I don't even like chocolate that much but this was delicious.....v v moreish!

It's still a lot to have eaten alone especially as I'm supposed to be watching wgat I eat due to clothes being too tight.

Will never buy it again!!

@NalPolishRemover

I've never had Willie's cacao but I did watch that series years ago when he was starting out. Must try that next!

Is sea salt & almond wanky?

Probably not to most people but it’s a bit ‘out there’ IMO Grin

But then I have never eaten a lot of ‘mainstream’ foods that I see on here (pesto, anyone?) so I accept I am the one out of line Grin

10ColaBottles · 20/09/2021 18:05

Hope it's good. I just added a bar to my shopping delivery on the back of this thread (before the negative reviews!)

Though I agree about the wanky uneven pieces thing. I'm sure i will manage though Halo.

NalPolishRemover · 20/09/2021 18:05

I hate pesto! And yet I love basil, parmesan & oil. I'm not crazy about pine nuts but especially hate what happens when they all get whizzed about into that paste

So apart from 1 recommendation for Willie's no one else who hates tonys has suggested a better alternative ?

@BlowDryRat

It's not your fault OP. The weird segment lines make it impossible to eat in small pieces. Poor design, tsk.
The design is there for a reason. It annoyed me too until I read why it's like that.

I really like the dark chocolate with sea salt and almond and could quite happily eat an entire bar.

TiredMummyZZZ · 20/09/2021 18:09

I love the idea of Tony’s and their ethos but I think it tastes like cooking chocolate.

Why is it designed like that?! I need ro know now🤔

Vaselike · 20/09/2021 18:17

It’s unequally divided to represent the inequality in the world (and, specifically, chocolate production) or something like that. “Life’s not fair..” articulated in chocolate.

Yabu. Should only have lasted two days. Love the almond and sea salt.

Shantotto · 20/09/2021 18:19

Tony’s is absolutely delicious! I’ve no idea how some people think it tastes the same as those disgusting advent calendars?! Kinnerton is it?

PillowTalking · 20/09/2021 18:23

@Vaselike interesting....I've never tried it, need to taste it now😋

NalPolishRemover · 20/09/2021 18:25

Yes! @Shantotto -at last! Someone talking sense Grin

I cant get past the gid awful packaging. Makes my eyes hurt

purplesequins · 20/09/2021 18:39

I don't care it's designed like that for a reason.
I want even chocolate pieces. I don't want to injure my teeth trying to bite a piece off.

Mines arrived and stowed in the fridge for later. 😍
PinkFootstool · 21/09/2021 08:45

Yuck, it's a deeply unpleasant chocolate. And I can't bite into it properly without fearing for my front teeth. For a PP, it's cloying, doesn't melt in the mouth and sticks to your mouth in clumps when you chew. Ick.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 21/09/2021 08:55

I bought some when we went to Amsterdam years ago and it was amazing....couldn't wait to go back and buy more, I did and was so disappointed, it had changed for the worse, waxy and brittle, but yet no snap. Very weird.

Can't you get it in sainsburys now?

And loving the also weird competitive restraint here ...as if it's dreadful to eat a bar of chocolate over three days and more than 3 toblerone triangles...okay then Hmm

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 21/09/2021 08:57

Utterly revolting.

Competitive under-eating is a thing on Mumsnet.

As it happens, a 180g bar of Tony’s is three portions so the OP is basically talking about eating three portions over the course of three days. Sure, chocolate isn’t something people should probably be eating every day, but I don’t think it’s that outrageous to have it three days on the trot as a once-off.

Anyway, Tony’s is shit. Great branding as it somehow manages to look and taste shit, but attracts a premium in terms of pricing, but also placement in shops, which is strange.
But one look at the ingredients list and you’ll see it’s no different to other cheap chocolate.

For decent chocolate, find a local artisan producer. We have two locally and their stuff is just amazing and a little piece goes a long way.

PooWillyNameChange · 21/09/2021 09:31

Tony’s was dropped from the ethical suppliers list this year due to links with child slavery Angry I used to like their ethics but now think they’re full of shit.

Caffeinefirst · 21/09/2021 10:32

I like the TC dark chocolate and sea salt but agree it’s difficult to eat. I break it up into a Tupperware and break off increasingly small pieces. I think it’s very nice chocolate though. I also buy the small bars of Green and Blacks which are easier to eat but they don’t just do small bars of dark chocolate which is what I prefer.

PattyPan · 21/09/2021 11:37

Yanbu, it’s lush. I recently bought salted chocolate covered almonds from Sainsburys, you might enjoy them as well.

Which list is this? Ethical Consumer still have them rated quite highly and with the top score for supply chain management. Given that they were explicitly founded to be anti slavery it’s awful if that’s the case Sad
Marmite27 · 21/09/2021 12:48

YABU, it’s not even nice chocolate.

SmellyOldOwls · 21/09/2021 21:25

@NalPolishRemover

What chocolate do you recommend *@londonrach & @SmellyOldOwls*? As I said I'm not a huge fan of chocolate but I did find myself going back again & again for more of that dark chocolate bar....
Well it's personal preference isn't it so if you like it then fill your boots! I like Lily O'Briens best.
CaptaNoctem · 21/09/2021 21:30

I don't actually mind the milk chocolate one, but I hate the way it isn't easy to break up so I don't often buy it.

MarbleRunaway · 21/09/2021 21:30

I quite like the taste and concept but I really can’t be arsed with the stupid design. I don’t care what it represents, print that on the wrapper, just give me a bar that I can break a sensible piece off.

I suspect it’s a marketing ploy to make you eat more than you intended. My OCD can’t cope!
