To do absolutely nothing with DS today?

Bit of a throwaway but i need assurances that i'm not an absolutely horrible parent.

DS is 4 and was up until 3am last night with a cold, he seems fine now but i'm absolutely knackered, is it unreasonable to do nothing but lie in bed and watch films on the laptop today? DS is very happy to do it I just feel like a terrible mother

Usually we'd read books, go to the park, dance to the radio, pretend play with his teddies together ect but i have zero energy for that today

Hell no! I do the bare minimum I can get away with if I’ve been up in the night

You’re actually being a wonderful parent. Both you and your DS need a day like that. I hope tonight is better for you both.

God no. Sounds ideal.
I'm full of cold and would love to lie in bed but 2 year old DD has other ideas!

Enjoy your restful day!

YANBU

Although I'd worry he'll get an energy burst at 6pm and be up all evening so I'd maybe do duvet day until 4:30pm and then run him round the park before dinner.

Of course it’s not unreasonable to let a sick child rest, why would that make anyone a terrible mother Confused

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 20/09/2021 13:49

Absolutely yanbu

Have a duvet day for both of you. Just because he seems energetic now, doesn’t mean he doesn’t need rest if he’s been ill. Kids under 5/6 in particular sometimes just rush around even if they are unwell!
