Climate Change it's not going to get any better

We try to recycle everything possible and buy local as much as we can. It makes me mad though when it's a lot of young people demonstrating about climate change etc. and then leaving tons of rubbish wherever they go such as parks, concert venues and such. I also fail to see the point of trying to get people to buy electric cars. How are they going to produce all the extra electricity to power them? How many countries are going to have these vehicles - not that many I expect and now with this worry about gas and electric prices no one will want one anyway. AIBU to think that it's hopeless?

YANBU to feel that way about the litter problem - it's awful and so damaging for wildlife, but YABU to feel so hopeless about climate change, because even though we probably can't stop it happening, we can mitigate against the effects. Humans are very adaptable. We've barely scratched the surface of all the renewable energy sources we can tap into, and technology is moving at a fast pace, so I believe we will be able to reduce the use of fossil fuels drastically over the coming years. It's challenging, but it's not hopeless.

One problem is that the planet is vastly overpopulated. Climate change may well cause parts of the planet to become uninhabitable, and there may be shortages of water, food and other resources. I think that in time, this will inevitably cause a reduction in the human population, which will be hard, but utlimately things will be better for future generations. If you live in northern Europe you'll probably be OK, but things are going to get very tough for those living in tropical regions.

YANBU. I don’t think the world will be a nice place in 50 years.

Nuclear power is the way to go forward.
