CloudsOfCeonothus · 19/09/2021 22:49

Collared dove I believe Smile

Coffeeisnecessary · 19/09/2021 22:49

Collared dove?

Plump82 · 19/09/2021 22:50

Is it not just a pigeon. Slightly bedraggled.

Coffeeisnecessary · 19/09/2021 22:50

Crow in the dark made me laugh!

CloudsOfCeonothus · 19/09/2021 22:50

MrsTulipTattsyrup · 19/09/2021 22:50

Definitely a collared dove 😁

thelastgoldeneagle · 19/09/2021 22:50

Yep, collared dove.

Boilingicicle · 19/09/2021 22:51

First is a blackbird
Second collared dove

Bloodybridget · 19/09/2021 22:51

Can't see it that well, but is it maybe a collared dove? Fine dark ring round its neck, pale grey, about the size of a small pigeon but quite slender?

Bloodybridget · 19/09/2021 22:52

Oh, I'm so slow at posting! But glad others agree with me!

ThinWomansBrain · 19/09/2021 22:57

seems fairly agreed on what it is.
Someone reccommended a free app earlier in the week called iNaturalist to identify plants, birds and animals - haven't tried it yet.

noblegiraffe · 19/09/2021 23:03

It’s the Seek app by iNaturalist and it’s great if the animal is still enough to get a decent close photo.

It couldn’t identify the photo on this thread as too blurry.

milkyaqua · 19/09/2021 23:04

Pretty little thing. Looks more like a juvenile Eurasian Collared Dove to me.

ThinWomansBrain · 19/09/2021 23:08

thanks @noblegiraffe - this thread reminded me I meant to download it - I had a quick look at the website, that should help me find it.

bluepurplepinkyellow · 20/09/2021 15:12

Thanks everyone it's pretty isn't it xx

A crow in the dark?
Grin
AuntMasha · 20/09/2021 15:45

Collared dove. They are pretty and so affectionate to one another when paired, no wonder doves are the symbol for lovers. Apparently they spread from Turkey into the U.K. in the 1950s so haven’t been in the British Isles for that long, relatively speaking.
