To wonder if it's possible to go to the toilet gracefully when wearing dungarees?

Without the straps going down the loo? I have actually found a nice pair but last time i wore dungarees the straps went down the loo.
Donning hard hat as i know you will think i'm unreasonable for wearing dungarees!

Just make sure the straps are out of the way?

LiberteEgaliteBeyonce · 19/09/2021 14:11

I am with you OP. Ditto with dangly belt straps and jumpsuits. Definitely avoid on a boozy night out.

LiberteEgaliteBeyonce · 19/09/2021 14:11

And YANBU

Sexnotgender · 19/09/2021 14:11

No. Also see jumpsuits.

Notimeforaname · 19/09/2021 14:12

leave the straps fastened but get ur arms out and then pull them down? They stay looped at the sides and dont fall down the toilet

littleburn · 19/09/2021 14:14

Likewise with jumpsuits, never wear either item anywhere you might have to use a portaloo ...

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 19/09/2021 14:16

No.

One of the straps always lands in the toilet bowl and then you try to get it out there and forget you are holding the second strap out of the way and drop that one as well.

Someone with the grace and spatial awareness of Emma Raducanu might be able to do it, us mortals never will.

Rayna37 · 19/09/2021 14:20

No one would describe me as graceful but I have a pair of dungarees I bought in 2016 and I think the straps have ended up in the loo once, maybe twice? Just pay attention it's really not hard!

BlibBlabBlob · 19/09/2021 14:20

Blimey I wear dungarees a lot and have never had this problem. I don't undo the straps, just slip them off my shoulder and pull everything down to below the knee.

I did have an unfortunate incident with a long-sleeved onesie one cold night though, pulled it all down very sleepily (had gone for a middle-of-the-night wee) and only realised one of the arms had been dangling down into the loo when I tried to put it back on again. Blush

Excellent point!

YANBU wearing dungarees - my very favourite outfit is my corduroy dinosaur dungarees Smile They are a baggy fit, so I don't undo the straps, just sort of wiggle out of them and push the whole thing down.

When I was kid I loved dungarees and the straps did end up down the loo, quite frequently. So much so that my lovely DGF once commented that if I "had a tail I'd forget to lift it out of the way on the toilet" Grin

Sparklingbrook · 19/09/2021 14:45

I used to like wearing dungarees until the going to the loo bit. I had a pair when I was pregnant, went to a public loo and the house key I kept in the front pocket fell out while I was getting them down and disappeared into the loo.

Now I don't really see what advantage dungarees give you over a normal pair of trousers TBF. Grin

BlibBlabBlob · 20/09/2021 17:04

@NotTheMrMenAgain I think we have the same Dino dungas! Run & Fly? Grin

TheQueef · 20/09/2021 17:08

I don't wear fashion dungarees but I do wear bib and brace ovvies. Don't undo the straps (or all your tools fall out of the pockets) but if you do sweep them up to the side like a full skirt.

NotTheMrMenAgain · 20/09/2021 17:51

@BlibBlabBlob. Yes! Run and Fly, the proper corduroy ones with the retro dino print Grin. Love them, actually wearing them right now. I think I might have a bit of a dino problem though, because I have two 50's style dresses with dinosaurs on and one ball gown type affair. Blush

Dungarees are so comfy - kind of like the outerwear version of a onesie, and the pockets are super handy.

This. Not difficult if the straps are reasonably long.

@NotTheMrMenAgain

Run and Fly are the business. Bees for me today.

BlibBlabBlob · 20/09/2021 21:47

@NotTheMrMenAgain and @toconclude hurrah for R&F - I think I have found my people on Mumsnet!

I have the cord adventure dinos, gold rainbow dinos, gold random dinos and the twill camo dinos, black rainbow dinos, jurassic grey and the new jurassic blue/black. Plus foxes and ladybirds. Plus several pairs of L&Y, and a pair by The Rainbow Unisaur.

My name is Blib and I am a dungaholic.

BlibBlabBlob · 20/09/2021 21:48

@toconclude I need to add bees to my collection! Got my eye on the new Katie Abey print coming out on Friday, though...
