I've just gone into the bathroom, and all this stuff is on the floor? There are trees outside so I'm wondering if it's off that? No windows open?

Anyone know? I hope it's not anything insect related!

(I'm also decorating so mind the minging skirting boards)

Looks like sawdust. Do you have woodworm?

Feckauras · 18/09/2021 23:47

Do you have a vent on your ceiling? If so, it could be dirt/dust that has fallen out of it.

bellabelle1994 · 18/09/2021 23:51

Nope no vent, just random shit on the floor!

I don't think I have woodworm either

We had something like this by an external door and it turned out to be some kind of wood boring beetle. Quite a bit bigger than woodworm and left holes about 4mm across.

SunShinesBrightly · 18/09/2021 23:55

Looks lke it’s fallen from above. What is directly above it?

QuestionableMouse · 18/09/2021 23:57

How does it feel if you rub it between your fingers? (wear gloves just in case!)

bellabelle1994 · 18/09/2021 23:58

I've not touched it incase it's the property of something 8 legged!
There's a window above which hasn't been opened
Then just at the side there is an opening for the stop tap

If the sawdust is from a wood-boring insect, the infested wood should be directly above. However, you usually cannot see a carpenter ant nest or carpenter ant damage by looking at the surface of the wood. There is usually no external evidence that carpenter ants are nesting inside other than the slit-like openings. But if the nest site is probed with a screwdriver, it should easily break through into the galleries.

Ghosts.

bellabelle1994 · 19/09/2021 00:03

Once spiders have been ruled out, it can only be linked to ghosts

Ants?

Have you moved/ripped out something for the decorating that dust could have accumulated behind/in/on top off? Like a bath panel or something. It looks a bit like the fibrous dust you get from loo roll, just a lot of it!
