Please help me find a holiday destination

Apologies not strictly Aibu I know but...

I unexpectedly have a few days off next week. The stars have aligned and my partner is also free so we're thinking of taking a long weekend away together. He has ocd and is very well travelled. So no pressure!

But where can we go? We had a brief look and couldn't find any decent flights to Italy, parts of Spain, Greece etc.

We don't want to go too far (it's not that long a holiday). Ideally last of the summer sun. Or glacial views in Switzerland. Basically something that makes it special. Ideally boutique type hotel.

Budget is not a problem. But finding a midday thursday flight and an early Monday/late Sunday flight from London is proving a nightmare.

Any ideas please?

If you haven’t found anything you like and that’s available so far, wgat makes you think someone else is going to do all the looking for you? Recommendations are fine. But if there are no flights available then they are pointless.

Brighton.

Call virgin / BA and they can normally plan or book for you? Or a local travel agent!

Go on skyscanner and select ‘anywhere’.

I find it hard to believe there are no midday Thursday flights from any of the 5 (6 if you count Southend) London airports though?

A bit of a nerdy alternative, but you can go on a website such as Flightradar24, select any airport - departures - scroll down/up for today or tomorrow’s lunchtime take offs. The schedule might vary slightly during the week but it will give you an idea of what the departure board looks like around those times.

Don’t use specific airline websites until you’re going to book. Go with google flights or skyscanner to see the widest range of routes.

I’ve just randomly looked London-Alicante up for next week. At least a dozen flights each day, choice of STN/LGW/LTN/LHR, cheap and cheerful. You can stay in Alicante or drive up to Valencia, both amazing cities and warm right now (25º+ during the day). Or you can find a beach resort. Or go inland up to the mountains/other cities/whatever you like.

That’s just one city in Spain. There are hundreds of flights - most of them low budget airlines, that’s true. Are you actively avoiding those?

Train to Paris, Amsterdam or Lille? All very lovely. Much less hassle than flying currently.

Does it have to be abroad? A long weekend in London or another city could be an option.

You could fly here to Seville Thursday - Monday from Stansted and would easily find a nice hotel with a swimming pool. Temperatures still in the high 20s/low 30s.

Have your bags packed, the cat/house taken care off and the world is your oyster.

Just google any last minute.

Sky scanner are showing flights to Santiago de Compostela that fit your times, should be warm and it’s a UNESCO heritage site so some nice sightseeing.

Why don’t you fly down to Malaga and go to Ronda and Benahavis. Both lovely and it’s a nice part of the world. Equally Marbella old town is gorgeous.
