re covid isolation

so ds2 tested positive for covid on monday, me & ds1 tested positive tuesday. dh still waiting results but out of house - and has an empty house to stay in if needed - unless he is positive when he'll come back home. he thinks the kids still need to self isolate in their rooms, but surely we don't as the whole house has covid now?

No you have to all stay in the house/garden but you can mix with each other!

LittleOwl153 · 16/09/2021 12:28

If you are all positive then isolate together. It's hard enough - I've just done it with 2 kids - without adding to the stress. Especially if the kids are young. Seems a bit mean to me.

Dizzywizz · 16/09/2021 12:35

Yeah it does seem mean!

What would be the point in all isolating from each other if you all have it?

HeckyPeck · 16/09/2021 12:40

What does he think will happen if you don't isolate in your rooms? You'll get double Covid?!

Inastatus · 16/09/2021 12:42

No point isolating from each other if you all have it - that’s crazy!

KeyWorker · 16/09/2021 13:19

For goodness sakes, they are your children!! No you do not have to isolate them away from the rest of the family like some leper from the Middle Ages!! What is wrong with some people to think it’s remotely acceptable to have their children isolated within the house. How old are they? What would he do if they were crying or needed assistance with washing/dressing/personal care?

Piggy42 · 16/09/2021 13:21

What would be the point?

Porcupineintherough · 16/09/2021 13:28

No you can all stay together but maybe ventilate a bit more than usual to keep the amount of virus you are all exposed to low.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 16/09/2021 13:34

Keeping kids in their rooms, so that he won’t catch in and therefore no restrictions on him? Yes, jog on mister!

Kids should at least have the run of house and garden.

Technically as not positive he can go out, but you’d have to be an idiot to do it.

Bornslippery · 16/09/2021 13:34

If they tested positive then they have it. I don't understand why they would need to be kept apart. Or have you other children??

Porcupineintherough · 16/09/2021 13:36

@KeyWorker keeping a sick child in bed, separate from the family, was common practice right up til the 1970s so less of the middle ages comments thank you! Wink

Dizzywizz · 16/09/2021 14:46

Until ds2 and I tested positive, ds1 was mainly in his room - we are in a bungalow and everything very close, I would still of course help with anything needed etc not ignoring him!! But anyway now we are all positive, Dh has gone so we are all mixing again. And so the arguments between them have started haha, at least it was quieter before!!!

Do you all have symptoms? I tested positive as did my husband and kids, although I was the only one with symptoms. I was advised to still isolate from them as much as possible due to different viral loads

onelittlefrog · 16/09/2021 15:31

Obviously if you are all positive then you can mix within your household.

Why on earth wouldn't you? There is no risk of someone catching it if you all already have it.

Just stay at home but you can be in the same room.

ZoBo123 · 16/09/2021 15:43

Isolate from each other so you don't spread the thing that has already spread, and people don't catch the thing they have already caught - okay

This is really interesting
Dizzywizz · 16/09/2021 20:52

@Net123456 that is interesting, I will look into it more. Ds2 was sick with a fever on day 1 and then on day 2 really quite poorly for a short time, just the second day really. That was fever, body pain, headache…ds1 felt a bit sick and a bit achy that’s all so far. I’ve had aches and pains, headache. We’re all really bunged up as well. Oh and I have a cough.
