Despite having a degree and having temped in offices, the only jobs I have been able to find have been in retail. Since uni I have worked in 3 different shops (at 3 years in each one more or less).
In my present job and one other retail post, I have noticed the blatant favouritism towards teenage and early twenty-somethings staff. And, I'll probably get lynched for saying this, it tends to be girls most of all. I have two theories why that would be.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Before any sophomaniac jumps down my throat, this has nothing to do with the lower rate minimum wage as entry level staff are on the same wage(rightly so). Also I am no less intelligent or hardworking than anyone else (if anything, muggins here is lumbered with the menial tasks everyone else refuses to do).
This isn't just about wanting to get on with promotions etc, also about being less expendable. I feel I would be the first to get fired if any cutbacks occurred. Because of my age, I am 40 btw 😠😠😠😢
