Petty neighbour

AIBU to think my neighbour is being ridiculous.
I’ve just lost my beloved cat so not in the best of moods and perhaps taking this more to heart than I should but my neighbour knocked on my door to complain that when my gardener cut the grass some grass has blown onto their garden path and can I ensure this doesn’t happen again.

It’s grass! What do they expect? And when I looked it was hardly anything! The gardener uses a mower with a grass collector so it is literally the tiny bits that blow away they are complaining about. It will blow away again by the morning I’m sure!

I didn’t know what to say I was so stunned so I just said ok but now I’m thinking I should tell them this is normal and that we live in the countryside and so grass is a normal occurrence. Particularly when your path goes between 2 front lawns.

I love petty neighbour threads and this one didn't disappoint Grin

I think your response was right, although you could always suggest you give your gardener a pair of tweezers to collect the odd blade that blows his way

Some people are just awful. Sorry your neighbour is one of them.

Quornflakegirl · 14/09/2021 21:13

My neighbour is a petty arse too. Ignore her and I am sorry about your cat.

Anyoneseenmyglasses · 14/09/2021 21:14

God my neighbour cuts my grass if out with the mower and I put their bins out sometimes. We wave at each other and take parcels. Sometimes we chat in the sunshine or have even had the odd cuppa together. That is a neighbour - yours is a arseighbour. Imagine life being that petty.

So sorry to hear about your cat 💐, your neighbour is batshit crazy.

DillonPanthersTexas · 14/09/2021 21:17

Nuke her house from orbit, only way to be sure.

Summersun2020 · 14/09/2021 21:20

I would laugh and slam the door in her face.

MrsRobbieHart · 14/09/2021 21:20

What you do is keep saying “ok” and closing the door and then you forget about it entirely. They’ll soon realise they’ll get no joy out of knocking your door for this nonsense.

We used to have lovely neighbours until one moved and the other died
A week after the lady moved into the one that died house she caught us on the hop and had a real go at us
Her problem?
We parked our car in front of our house-the house we paid a lot of money for and it’s our parking spot
She really thought she could force us to park a ten minute walk away so she’d never have to see it
Now she refuses to speak to us and we park outside our house,in our spot
She parks outside her house with no problems at all

OneMoreStitch · 14/09/2021 21:39

Definitely just forget she ever spoke to you about it. If she complains again, repeat the process. She's petty. You can't talk her out of who she is, but you don't have to actually give her petty complaints headspace, either.
