To feel so annoyed at this wasted money

We recently paid for financial advice due to moving house (mortgage advisor) - we are now not moving house.

I’m feeling really down about it tonight. I’m tired and crabby and feel like bursting into tears.

How much are we talking here?
Is none of the advice helpful anyway?

During our lives we often spend money on things that proved to be unnecessary or not good value. It’s disappointing to have spent money on something you ended up not using, but it’s done now. Try to move on from it as it cannot be changed now. I’m sure there are other purchases you have made that have proved to be worth far more to you than their original outlay.

By way of example, my best ever purchase was my £12 Aldi slow cooker bought 12 years ago and used most days for 6 months of every year. My worst was paying £1,500 for repairs to my car just days before it was written off. But it’s all part of life. No point in agonising over it. Though I do sympathise; sometimes emotion just bests us.

My dad always says money spent is money behind you. You have to let it go.

DS1 recently bought festival tickets for £180, an event i would never have let him go to, and he swore blind he would sell ahead of the date and make more than he spent. He hasn't and he didn't. I am furious as I KNEW this would be the case the minute I saw them and he utterly ignored me, as I have been nowhere, seen nothing and know fuck all. Apparently.

I now need to move on, and not bring it up when I remember how annoyed I am about it. Which will be hard as I fork out for his driving lessons. I have decided to torture him by pinning them to his bedroom notice board. Grin

It just grates because so pointless! But yes best to put it behind me.

Just so you know, there is free advice out there in future. London&country cost nothing for the whole of your mortgage application, free brokers. Not sure if that's where you lost money though.

Thanks, Smokey, will bear that in mind.
