I had minor foot surgery last week, sick note from work for three weeks. I can't do anything, it hurts to move anywhere and so getting up and coming downstairs takes all my energy, dh is wfh so I feel guilty if I have to ask him to do anything. I'm rubbish on crutches but do keep trying to practice.
I feel so guilty just sitting around watching TV with a cat on my lap, I'm getting bored which is a good sign, should be able to pick up my laptop and do some work in a day or two to help out.
Anyone else resting up? I can't belive it takes so long to get back to normal.

I fractured my kneecap and damaged some ligaments a few years back and had a week with my leg braced and elevated, followed by a few weeks of being able to work from home but not to get in to the office.

That first week was horrible. DH was happy making me a flask and sandwiches in the morning, putting everything I might need in reach, helping me wash my hair etc., it was me that was struggling with having to ask for help Grin . Try and keep reminding yourself how you'd feel if the situation were reversed - it may well be that helping you will make him feel less helpless/useless as you recover.

Getting the hang of the crutches and building up some shoulder strength definitely helped, but your body is trying to rebuild the bits that have had the injury which does take a fair bit of energy. Cut it some slack Wink

It's a bit sad that you can't think of anything to do other than watch tv or do some work, even when you are off sick. Read a book, learn something new, talk to friends, catch up on life admin, research a holiday for next year.....only boring people get easily bored!

Yes, having help washing my hair and a cat bath last night, I'm mostly clean but I feel horrible asking him to help me do such simple things.
