Bugaboo common fault

Tashatan · 14/09/2021 07:50

I have a Bugaboo Fox which I started having problems with when unfolding the chassis. The issue was with the central locking mechanism and appears to be a common problem! I am shocked Bugaboo did not recall the model as hundreds of buggies went in for the same fault to be repaired with parts ordered from China. My buggy went in for repair and returned back to me completely broken! When questioned I was told the chassis was 'UNREPAIRABLE' and would not be sent back to me in a usable condition as it was unsafe for use.
So now I am without a buggy and have a toddler and 6 month old baby that I can't take out of the house as my pushchair is completely broken. When I sent it off to Bugaboo's authorised repairer where I was advised to send it it was actually working, just temperamental when unlocking and unfolding. Had I of known it would be sent back to me in a completely broken state I would not have sent it off for repair! I was never sent a disclosure document to sign by the repairer and Bubaboo appear to be completely uninterested in coming to a resolution. I would have thought buying into the Bubagoo brand meant the build quality would be the best and cause no problems. If anyone as experienced anything similar or have any advice I would grateful appreciate it.

How old is it?

SD1978 · 14/09/2021 07:59

Did you receive a refund and can buy another one? I assume if you've sent it off, you've either not had a pram for a bit, or been using a different one?

Tashatan · 14/09/2021 21:10

ITS 3 YEARS OLD ONLY

No I wish I was able to get a refund! It's looking like Bugaboo just want to take away any responsibility for this. Ive had to borrow an old buggy for a friend while this is not being resolved. It cost hundred of pounds and now that money is lost.

I take it they don't offer an extended warranty? I have an icandy which has a five year warranty. I had to get a new seat sent out maybe six months in and they sent me the new part immediately. They hen asked if I 'would mind' returning the old one to them so they could investigate the fault and prevent it happening again. Can't believe you are left with no pram...

This is shocking. Can you shame them on Twitter?

KrisAkabusi · 14/09/2021 21:15

Three years is probably past any warranty though. Most consumer items only have one or two years warranty.

voxnihili · 14/09/2021 21:27

Mine did it just over a year after I bought it. They sent me a new chassis straight away - I just had to send a video of the old one with the fault. They didn’t ask for that one to be returned.

Sweetmotherofallthatisholyabov · 14/09/2021 21:38

Is it just the chassis you sent or all the wheels and bits? Ask how much is it to replace just the chassis and then that will have a new 2 year warranty.

sunshineandrain82 · 14/09/2021 21:40

I would contact them again.
My fox chassis I sent back. They sent me a fox 2 one out before collecting my fox chassis that wouldn't unfold at all. That was only last year.

Crunchymum · 14/09/2021 21:45

Bugaboo replaced my out of warranty chassis when it broke...it was a chameleon 3. I did have to send the broken chassis back but they arranged collection / delivery of new chassis at same time.

This was a few years ago now though.

Definitely follow up with them - they can't confiscate your property!

I have a bugaboo and haven't had a problem mine's a Cam though

They didn't confiscate her property, they sent it back unrepaired.

Yanbu I had endless, endless problems with my bugaboo fox makes me so mad as it cost a packet it was awful! Currently in the shed with a wheel fallen off and they won’t give us the screw to get it back on. NEVER AGAIN!

Tashatan · 15/09/2021 09:32

Yes it may just be out or warranty now but as it seems to be a common fault and actually sent back to me in a more broken state than it was I would have thought they would do everything they can to rectify the situation!? I am going to contact them again today and ask for the third time for this to be escalated

This is comforting to hear. Did you have to escalate your issue or they took care of it straight away? Can i ask who you contacted? I can only find one email online for contact

Hi Tashatan,

i am currently having issues with my bugaboo fox 3. I know it was some time ago now that you had issues with your pram but I wondered what the outcome was and what exactly was wrong.
my issue is that intermittently the seat with not lock in pace and have swung backwards (with my child in it). I am currently going back and forth with bugaboo via John Lewis now. Currently without buggy.
