Going to a (dance music - mainly 90's house music) festival on Saturday. I don't go 'out' much these days (3 kids) and I don't have a bloody clue what to wear!! Please help! Nearly 40 - size 12-14, big boobs that need a bra, bit of a mum tum, but i exercise regularly and don't mind my shoulders / arms - and can manage a bit of an hourglass shape with the help of some Spanx - any ideas welcome!!!! Dont want to look like mutton dressed as lamb lol. Thanks!

Is it outdoor?

I’d say forget the Spanx. I imagine there’ll be a lot of variety in what people wear. I’d stick on a pair of jeans with trainers and wear a bright t-shirt - maybe see if you can get a smiley face t-shirt and/or a bucket hat and stick some glitter on your face. Take some of those glow in the dark necklaces. Job done.

Have a great time!

Whatever makes you feel comfy!

I was at a similar type event last week and there was everything from the women who where basically wearing a bikini to the Jean and t shirt look and everything in between.

Start with comfy shoes and then take it from there

Good shoes. Comfy sturdy and waterproof, something you don’t mind getting dirty and won’t give you sore feet. That’s no one for me and we go to a lot of festivals. If it’s dry I wear trainers, if it could be wet I wear sturdy ankle boots.

I’d also forget the Spanx. It’s really not about what you look like in that way and these things go on for hours . I personally wear comfy jeans but leggings works also, and layer your tops, so that if you’re hot you are fine in a T-shirt or vest, but if you get cold can put a jumper and fleece on

Also if it’s outside take a Kagul or waterproof jacket.

@OhFFSMum I think I'm going to the same one as you and I've had the same issue! Same age as you, same figure (are you me?!). I'm thinking demin shorts and a vest top with a light shirt/jacket over the top for later on. And comfy shoes!!! Maybe something orange too...?! Have fun 💃

If you’re there at night and it’s a nice day it will be bloody freezing once the sun drops. Layers are the way forward! Comfort is best too I’m afraid… jeans, funky bright t shirt and I Get some face jewels… primark do them. Enjoy!

Yes, I totally agree - no Spanx. The combination of being a bit tiddly, tiny wee portaloo cubicles, darkeness and the medieval gong pit horror of the festival toilet plus all the contortions needed to pee in Spanx. I can't see it ending well Grin

We've just had a festival here. The fashions were a bit eye popping but there did seem to be a trend towards sort of a sleeveless racer back shell top in a kind of light lycra material with matching flared/boot cut trousers worn with platforms. It looked great, it was fairly 90s in its vibe but was also practical for dancing, peeing, wandering about for hours, etc. I'll see if I can find any photos.

There's always the old Kate Moss jean shorts and wellies festival classic. You can adapt with tights, jumpers etc.

Is it Clockstock? Anything goes. I'm wearing a glittery top, jeans and trainers.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 14/09/2021 08:15

Wide leg trousers/jeans, tight sleeveless top and buffalo trainers - but that is me channelling my 90's clubber (happy days).

If you're going to Clockwork Orange I'm insanely jealous, I don't live too far away but didn't get my arse in gear.

But seriously, forget the Spanx, go for comfort.

@inigomontoyahwillcox There's loads of tickets being sold on the Clockwork Orange Facebook page 👯‍♀️
