Over the summer I got quite a lot of work done to my house. It was £9k for everything and included

The laying down of a new patio at the back of the garden - my garden is pretty average size and
AstroTurf which seems to be really good quality
The existing stones cleaned and filled in because they were starting to break and were uneven.

Inside my house
I had a new tap fitted in the kitchen
A new oven installed
2 cupboards removed to make space for the new gas cooker
The gas engineer who also had to come to do the safety check
And a boiler service

I don't know why but every time I think about it it's filling me with stress. The garden is amazing but the kitchen has made me feel stressed because it doesn't look nice where they've fitted the cooker and cut away the work top and I'm now having to get a quote for someone to come in and sort it out. It feels like the big issues were taken care of but the details we discussed were just ignored.

Sounds like a fair price to me if the work is done well and that includes materials.

To be honest the garden is amazing - it's so good. However, the kitchen fills me with stress every time I walk into it. There's a hole in my wall and a big gap between the worktop and the cooker. I've just got a quote to sort out the mess that was left and it's around £3,000. In saying this he did exactly what I asked him to do which was fit the cooker at the expense of the cupboards.

It's useful to get perspective because I don't know whether to complain about it or not.

I think it depends on the size of the garden. Did you relay old stones or buy new? How is the astro tuff fitted? Weighted? Timber frames.. it all makes a difference.

With the kitchen, is it what you were expecting? How bad does it look

OP, I assume you are a woman and as such, they might overcharge, thinking you haven't got a clue. Is there any chance a man could be there and take the lead with further quotes?

What a dreadful thing to have to say...

Do you feel able to share a picture of the cooker installation at all? It might help - other posters might have advice.

It's hard to tell op! What stones did you use for the patio? What brand appliances? Is it a quooker (or similar tap)?
