To just HATE bloody jeans?

whatabelter · 13/09/2021 12:07

Would I be unreasonable to never wear jeans again? I'm 32 and I would consider myself to dress fine. Usually in summer I wear floaty dresses and trainers or blouses and skirts. In the winter I shamefully seem to live in work out leggings or leggings with chunky jumpers and boots or trainers.
I'm a bit sick of this and looking for some more inspiration. Wearing cut off flare jeans today with blouse and little Zara jacket and I just feel so I comfy in jeans. I'm a size ten but feel huge and they just make me feel ugh. I've tried skinny, mom cut.. you name it, I hate them.
Anyone else like me?? And if so what trousers/looks do you recommend?!

Just to clarify I don't feel huge in general but jeans make me feel really self conscious and large.

I don’t hate jeans but if you do then don’t wear the,. I don’t even understand why you need to ask.

DrSbaitso · 13/09/2021 12:10

I look like shit in jeans but it's hard to find alternatives for casual wear in winter. Suggestions welcome.

Lavender24 · 13/09/2021 12:11

I dislike wearing them too. I find them so uncomfortable. I'm a size eight but my lower stomach is my problem area and jeans just seem to highlight this. I live in workout leggings too, nothing wrong with that!

Helbelle75 · 13/09/2021 12:16

I don't wear jeans. I don't find then at all comfortable. I wear leggings and dresses, tunic tops. I'm a dance teacher so spend a lot of time in sports stuff anyway.
I'm 46, but have never really worn jeans.

DrSbaitso · 13/09/2021 12:19

I don't like leggings either, so it is a bit limiting.

cardibach · 13/09/2021 12:22

I don’t understand how workout leggings draw less attention to ‘problem areas’ than jeans… I don’t really understand the concept of a problem area though, especially I someone size 8 or 10.
Just wear what you like though, @whatabelter

MyPatronusIsACat · 13/09/2021 12:24

@whatabelter May I suggest JEGGINGS? No zips, no tightness round the waist (elasticated waist.) SOooooooooooOOOOoooooo comfy. Grin

ASDA GEORGE do them for a tenner. In dark inky blue, and black.

I did need to get a size bigger. Normally a 14, but needed a 16, as I struggled to get the 14 over my hips.

So you may need to get a size bigger than your 'usual' size. (Just in case you buy them without trying them on first.)

Great value for money, and decent quality!

Picklypickles · 13/09/2021 12:36

I'm 40 and the closest thing to jeans I wear these days is jeggings, I've got so many scars from operations all over my abdomen I can't bear to wear anything that's tight or restricting around the tummy at all, and I'm allergic to the metal buttons and zips so get a gross crusty bellybutton if I wear jeans! I'm also really short and it can be a nightmare finding proper jeans that fit right. I tend to wear long floaty dresses in summer and leggings with a short dress or tunic style top or jumper dress in winter.

Forestcantrun · 13/09/2021 12:39

I also love a jegging. M&S do some very comfortable ones. Otherwise I live in sports leggings. I never wear jeans.

slashlover · 13/09/2021 12:43

Why do you think YWB to not wear clothing you hate? I hate heels so I don't wear them, I don't like a food so I don't eat it.

lockdownalli · 13/09/2021 12:43

Jeans aren't compulsory...

IndiaMay · 13/09/2021 12:46

I know what you mean. I find Jean's so u flattering and generally feel uncomfortable in them both with what I look like and because of the fit/material. I'm a size 10 but I have wide hips and a small waist. I'd say my waist measures a 10, hips a 12 and legs a 10. I buy a 10 so they fit my legs and the waist isnt too gapey (but it still flaps about) however the 10 is so tight on the hips. If I go up to a 12 then the waist is double the size it needs to be and I look frumpy with saggy legs. Legginings hug me in all the right places because their stretchy. So much more flattering.

IndiaMay · 13/09/2021 12:47

*waist measures an 8

Ellewoods20 · 13/09/2021 12:49

There’s been a couple of threads on this over on the Style and beauty page. There always seems to be a spilt with those that absolutely hate jeans and those that live in them. Come over to Style and beauty and you’ll be given some help with finding alternatives. Don’t worry we’re all friendly over there! Smile

BikeRunSki · 13/09/2021 12:52

I hate new jeans. I love old jeans. I am currently trying to replace my bartered old faithfuls which have become indecently threadbare.

CaptainMyCaptain · 13/09/2021 12:52

@Aprilx

This. They're not compulsory.
malificent7 · 13/09/2021 13:09

Yanbu....i love leggins, velvet trousers , cordoroy etc.

romdowa · 13/09/2021 13:13

I hate jeans, I'm quite slim and still find them uncomfortable. I live in tracksuit bottoms or leggings.

Ozanj · 13/09/2021 13:16

I personally think jeans are far more forgiving for wobbly bits than leggings. So it’s probably just your perspective rather than reality.

jeaux90 · 13/09/2021 13:19

I wear cargo pants in different styles and materials. I probably have every kind of Hush ones. Comfortable and can dress up or down. I hate jeans too.

FlumpsAreShit · 13/09/2021 13:24

I get this. I also hate that now tucking in and 'mom jeans' are in fashion. When not pregnant I'm size 8 and relatively slim but the tucked in mom jeans combo shows a horrid lower stomach lump, especially when sitting...and also I have a short torso and long legs so makes me look even stumpier!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 13/09/2021 13:29

You do have to shop around a bit for jeans to get a nice fit tbh. I'm very curvy in the hips and find that Gap or Next jeans are a great fit, not the best quality though these days.

WellLarDeDar · 13/09/2021 13:32

I only wear leggings, lots of black pairs but also some nice patterned ones too I like wide leg trousers for work and midi skirts are my favourite thing ever. But jeans I find uncomfortable, they really agitate my skin so I rarely bother.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 13/09/2021 13:52

I agree with LivingDead that you really have to look around for the pair(s) that fit you well. I'm small of waist, large of thigh and round of hip and I swear I tried on at least 25 or so different combinations before I bought my last pair. Fit aside, finding ones in the right shade and material mix can also be a PITA. But when you do find that dream pair, they really can be fabulously comfortable and very versatile.
