To feel so sad for DP?

DP has RA. He gets a lift into work with a work colleague who has a huge land rover.
DP is finding he can't get in and out of the car so will now use public transport. Can't help but feel really sad that he struggles the way he does. I know this thread is a bit self indulgent but invisible illnesses are really tough. Sad

Yanbu but (and this is a big but, as I have another joint issue and that’s my frame of reference)
Wouldn’t it be lots harder to get public transport than use a large car?

Babyroobs · 12/09/2021 22:02

Is it because it's a high step up to the car? Maybe there is some kind of adaption that might be available? Must be something easier than negotiating public transport?

BlossomOnTrees · 12/09/2021 22:05

Public transport has no big steps and no need to jump down so heavily.
Yes, the car has a big step up and DP has to jump down to get out which is very painful.

What about one of those foldable little steps you can get? 😁

My mum has arthritis, sympathies!

Could he not learn to drive?

It's not really LR owning colleague's fault.

reallyworriedjobhunter · 12/09/2021 22:26

Has he spoken to the colleague about it? Can they help with the step?

In their position I would want to be as helpful as possible. I wouldn't want to loose my car buddy.
