To ask about decorators coming?

I have decorators coming tomorrow to do hall, stairs and landing. It's a biggish job so I reckon they'll be here a week, as all the walls have to be stripped back and there's woodwork to paint too.

I've never had decorators in, and just want to make sure I have an idea in my head of how it will be (because I'm autistic and it really helps).

I'm assuming they'll arrive earlyish? Around 8?

Happy to make tea and coffee for them, but am I ok to be at home while they're here? I would mostly be in the bedroom or the lounge. I have been a bit unwell recently so I might be in bed for some of it, though DH will be around if they need anyone.

Once my DC are home from school/nursery I'll do my best to keep them away but would it be wrong to suggest they knock off at 4ish, or they might find a very inquisitive autistic 7yo investigating their tools!

I would say 8/9ish they'll arrive.
Your absolutely fine to be at home whilst they are there.
I would guess they would leave 4/5 anyway but of course you can ask for a 4 finish.
Are you able to take the kids in the back way? Could be an idea so they don't see what's going on and get intrigued.

bit late for tomorrow, but when you arrange for tradespeople to do work in your house in the future, why not agree the basics and discuss any concerns at the time you're contracting for the work to be done?

probably not too late to taxt today and ask ETA if its an independent worker rather than a large fiem.

We've had lots of work people in recently - they generally seem to arrive between 8am and 9am. I always welcome them in, offer them a tea or coffee then tell them I'll be either working upstairs / in the front room (working or watching tv!) depending where they are. I tend to pull the door half shut in the room I'm in, then they call me in if they need me. I offer another tea / coffee (and biscuits if I have them) around lunchtime then perhaps one mid afternoon. I also tell them if they need the toilet they're welcome to use the one downstairs. Normally they leave by 4 ish depending how far they travel home.

Dh is a decorator. When folks have wee kids he's more than happy to work 9-3 so the kids aren't there. He typically works 8-4.
