Service Families on 9/11

I have only once started any message on MN and that was in maybe 2016.

But today. I have watched a lot of coverage of 9/11 and dignitaries doing their thing. And I am so sad about everyone that lost their lives that day. Afghanistan followed that.

My DP is a soldier. We have 2 children. I was 19 when I met him. He’s been all over the world. 3 tours in Afghanistan included. I’m lucky. He’s always come back.

I don’t know why, more so than any other day recently, my heart is an open wound for the families of those British service personnel who didn’t come back. It’s as though the politicians can put on a show and it doesn’t matter what a bloody mess it all ended in. Our personnel gave their lives willingly in Afghanistan for absolutely nothing.

If you live with a soldier you know they just want to get out there and fight. The families and the partners know what those blokes are like. And know they’d go again. Every time.

But what a mess. And what a waste. A waste of husbands and dads and sons.

Wishing all the service families out there so much love. It’s an odd life we live. And sacrifice is for a lifetime. ❤️
