Help me identify this film

Just watched 500 days of Summer . The narrator’s voice has put me in mind of another film which I just cannot remember . Think in the film I cannot remember the narrator accent was ever so slightly french. It is a romantic movie, two lovers who may or may not get their act together . No idea ! It’s driving me nuts not being able to remember . It’s to Amalie, but I’m thinking the style is a bit similar. It’s not BigFish either but again this film keeps getting in the way of me recalling the actual movie.
Long shot but anyone care to take a wild guess so I can get some sleep tonight.

Really going to need more detail. You said you touht the narrator was French, is it an American film, a big budget or indie, roughly what timeperiod , any recognisable actors even if you don't know their names......

I honestly cannot remember any more detail, however , I have seen Eternal Sunshine and Chocolat so possible but not grabbing me right now . The film is from the era of big Fish ( did it have a narrator , I can’t remember ) . Definitely felt French but probably more Block Buster than indie film. Think along the lines the two protagonists getting on with the plot with a narrator explaining their thoughts / actions / what might happen next ,

Perfume , story of a murder also keeps coming to mind but not that . There must have been a genre of these films around the time I’m recalling . Slightly fairy tail . Happy ending , I can’t sleep !!!

Three Colours: Red? That's French, has an unstable couple, and is one in a trilogy.

Or could it be One Day? That has a couple who may or may not get together, much of it is set in France, and it has a second ending which might seem a bit fairytale- sequel.
