To feel traumatised by bullying

I’m still not over it
Even now I’m in my late 20’s which feels ridiculous

Not at all. I'm currently having therapy for PTSD caused by a highschool bully, and im nearly 32.

KatherineJaneway · 10/09/2021 22:11

I'm 50, still traumatised by it.

faithfulbird20 · 10/09/2021 22:12

I try to block it out but when I do remember it's awful. Soul destroying. May God curse their soul. Amen. Atleast we're not alone. A sad thing to say but it's true.

LuckyAmy1986 · 10/09/2021 22:12

Troll?

What the hell?

Stompythedinosaur · 10/09/2021 22:45

It isn't at all unusual to experience trauma from bullying. There is no cut off for experiencing trauma symptoms, you have nothing to be embarrassed about.

Have you considered therapy to help?

kittenkipping · 10/09/2021 22:58

Yanbu. If you are bullied by a family member it's normal to say you were abused and long term trauma expected. Except at school you spend so much time, years, with another kind of abuser but this you're expected to just forget and shrug off? No. It's devastating and long lasting. I am now "friends" with my bullies, and yet I get palpitations and nightmares when/ after I see them ( we now all socialise as a group) I don't think I'll ever get over it

YANBU
I was bullied at high-school and have only realised (well in to my 30s) how much of an effect it has had on me.
Being an adolescent is tough. Those are the formative years and what you learn then about social relationships will stay with you.
Your brain is very plastic, it doesnt really mature until your late 20s so everything that happens then will have an effect on you.

I was treated poorly by my mum as a child. Bullied at school and went on to have three abusive relationships to varying degrees (just in the process of getting out of the latest one). It effects you, it really does.

@RAFHercules the OPs earlier thread was deleted as the OP was a troll, so presumably…

Guavaf1sh · 11/09/2021 08:27

Why is the user still allowed to post after the previous thread?

LuckyAmy1986 · 11/09/2021 12:15

@Guavaf1sh no idea!

RAFHercules · 11/09/2021 15:13

LuckyAmy1986
In that case I wholeheartedly apologise to you.
What a thing to troll about.
