Trying to email Amazon UK

LadyEloise1 · 10/09/2021 11:01

I'm trying to email Amazon UK as I have an issue with Prime membership.
It's just not straightforward as it would be with other companies where you look up their customer service and get an email address and send off the email.
It appears to be such a palaver - having to get the app put on my phone to email them.
Or
Is there an easier way ?
I'm sure some wise Mumsnetters will know.

Call them?

vshah140113 · 10/09/2021 11:04

Use the online chat option, they usually resolve the issue quickly through that when I've had any issues.

There used to be a form on the website you could use but now it just says request a call or online chat.

I use chat too, it's very quick.

Online chat is great

NoSquirrels · 10/09/2021 11:10

Online chat.

Don’t email them, they’re set up much better for online chat.

LadyEloise1 · 10/09/2021 11:30

I'm in Ireland so can't call them - i tried.
Is the online chat function easily accessible- I can't see it 😩
Do I have to get the Amazon app to chat ?

You don't need the app, scroll down to the bottom, click customer service then there will be categories of things you want help with. Either click the relevant one or click 'something else' then select 'I need more help' and the chat will come up

PumpkinKlNG · 10/09/2021 11:33

Yep you need the app for the chat hence suggesting you call, I’m in England though so not sure if it’s different but they don’t make it easy to call them either it says you can request a call back then when I do that it says they aren’t taking calls, but you can google their customer service number and call it yourself which does work for me.

My internet provider has on-line chat as the only means of communication.

I honestly believe all interactive messaging is an utterly pointless form of communication. I can't understand why it exists. It has the same drawbacks as phoning, to which it adds an additional one, that it's harder to type than speak.

If you're going to communicate by typing, then non-interactive (asynchronous) messaging is far superior, as you can both message when you're ready, and take as much time as you like to gather correct information and refine your wording for perfect communication. Neither party is left twiddling the thumbs while waiting for the other to come up with their response.

Interactive messaging seems to be a way to combine the respective downsides of phone and email, making it worse than whichever of those two options you would otherwise have preferred.

Amazon online chat is usually very good. I've used it a couple of times with great success

silentpool · 10/09/2021 11:54

Amazon chat is awesome.

Peanutsandchilli · 10/09/2021 11:57

It seems to be online chat or nothing. I hate it, and the one time I've used it they said they'd rectify something and they didn't. Useless.

TheSpottedZebra · 10/09/2021 11:58

You need the app to chat.
There's an option to get the to call you, they call pretty much instantly.

stripedbananas · 10/09/2021 11:58

Online chat is immediate

sst1234 · 10/09/2021 12:00

Chat is really good

toystoyseverywhere · 10/09/2021 12:03

I don't have the Amazon app apart from on my kindle.

When I've been in my account on phone I've clicked on live chat option and also request a call back. I've had to do that many times and they've always been very, very fast. The live chat option has gone smoothly also with none of the usual issues that can occur!

I would definitely try one of them but requesting a call back would be best I would say. My phone has pretty much rang straight away with them and they've always been very polite and helpful unlike so many other companies!
