Appears on many of same threads airing similar views to you, describes similar living situation, kids close in age to yours...

So that you find yourself checking you've not accidentally name changed and are agreeing with your own earlier post?!

Humans are much more alike than us in western culture would like to believe.

SeriouslyISuppose · 09/09/2021 09:30

No, but I have frequently nodded approvingly at my own posts from years earlier and twenty name changes ago, when someone revives a zombie, before realising they’re mine.

Bluntness100 · 09/09/2021 09:32

No, but I’ve had two trolls copy my user name with a slight indistinguishable change and pretend to be me. Then post horribly.

OhRene · 09/09/2021 09:33

I've sometimes looked at a thread twice and wondered if I'd posted it whilst half asleep so don't remember doing so.

And there is one poster I just cannot disagree with. I'll read a response and say to myself, "YES! Exactly!" And then check who posted it and think, well duh. Course it was them.

🤣 I've done that, and checked the name to see who it is, because their post would be exactly what I would write, only to realise it is me.
Recessed · 09/09/2021 09:40

I noticed this slight variation and wondered if that's what happened or if you just got crankier - I think most are familiar with your username on here Grin

Bluntness100 · 09/09/2021 09:56

@Recessed, yes both banned I understand. Very odd behaviour and even odder when we are both posting at the same time on the same thread and you spot it. Other posters are very good though and jump in and report. The fakes post some horrible shite too.

Kittykat93 · 09/09/2021 10:01

This just reminded me of the poster who answered her own thread years later , think it was about a pram recommendation. Really made me laugh Grin

This. Though there are a couple very obviously living near me (like, within a few streets) living very similar lives, and it bugs me to fuckery that I don't know them irl.

@Kittykat93 she was called Echo something, iirc Grin.

DeepaBeesKit · 09/09/2021 10:35

Omg bluntness that explains a lot.

I'm going to be watching for that, never occurred to me people would do that.

DeepaBeesKit · 09/09/2021 10:37

Squirrel I remember that stroller recommendation thread.

Aliceabsolum so true. I had a name change and a sibling was trying to guess my new one. She thought she had it nailed. I was like "ha no but I forgive you for thinking its *Hungryhippo11 as I often think they might actually be me". Or maybe a calmer nicer version Grin.

LaurieFairyCake · 09/09/2021 11:26

I've also read and agreed with my own posts Blush

What a weirdo I am

ssd · 09/09/2021 11:29

Yes I have 2

Shirleyphallus · 09/09/2021 11:35

I’ve got a slightly different situation which is on those “which posters do you miss” my old name change has been mentioned a few times

Obviously it’s deeply distressing and devastating to me that no one realises I’m me and my genius has gone unnoticed

Sacreblue · 09/09/2021 12:27

My ex stalks me on MN, occasionally doing davro posts on past situations from when he was abusing me and using variations of some of my NC’s.

He obviously is trying to ‘prove’ my behaviour was what was off-kilter and not his appalling abuse of me.

It used to scare me but now 🤷🏻‍♀️ short of him confessing all (inc his mates’ abuse) to the cops he can shout & tantrum himself into the void all he likes because MN keeps handing his arse back to him Grin

Ifyoudontlikeitdosomethingelse · 09/09/2021 12:50

I've spotted a friend on here years ago. Then she named changed and I spotted her again... And again and again! It keeps happening. She's not very discreet!

You can't just leave that hanging there. Give us a clue at least! Or are you the poster who posted a photo of a 5* hotel bedroom and pretended it was hers Grin
bicarbonateofcherrysoda · 09/09/2021 13:00

I googled something the other week and had (of course) results from mumsnet. I was excited thinking someone else had a cat with a similar issue and had sorted it. Yes, it was my cat. I search in incognito half the time to avoid weird things in my Google feed so my post wasn't highlighted and I didn't even realise it was me.

The worst thing was I was giving advice to someone else about giving a cat a certain tablet and was (of course) unable to convince my cat to swallow said tablet several years later.

I loved that pram thread though 😂

Potpourri23 · 09/09/2021 13:36

I once started a post about something a bit sensitive and had people piling on to tell me how horrible I was... someone who had actually read my post properly posted in support of what I was saying and SHE was accused of being a sock puppet. That felt quite surreal Grin

I had exactly the same, only I don’t think my issue was remotely sensitive — it was probably one of those threads about whether flickering lights in a house were down to generations of botched DIY or the ghost of great-Auntie Maureen — and people got very exercised about whether another poster mildly saying it was likely to be unearthed switches was my sockpuppet. Until I suggested they toddle off and ask MNHQ whether we were different posters, when they flounced.
Wishingwell75 · 09/09/2021 14:08

Have to say that's really cheered me up for some reason - @Bluntness100 although I appreciate it must have been really strange and frustrating for you. Not to mention the bloody cheek of it!!!
I remember thinking that's not like Bluntness.....

3GreenPullups · 09/09/2021 14:17

I accidentally namechanged to a name that was insanely similar to another poster. But it was not an intuitive sort of name, it was (I thought) quite random. I was astonished when they answered on a thread I was on and got a little cross thinking they were trying to copy me for what i assumed were nefarious purposes. So i advanced searched their name and saw they had been posting under it for YEARS.

I was most embarrassed and quickly namechanged. I should have PMed to apoligise, but did not, which I am ashamed of.

I do notice posters who generally post similar things to me though and usually nod along whenever I see their posts.
