WIBU to ask for paint colour suggestions?

Hi all!

I’m starting the decorating process for my daughter’s room (she’s nearly 6 and we have co-slept up until now so it’s her first proper bedroom).

She has picked this mural for one of her bedroom walls (I’ve added the link because I can’t attach a photo) and I’m planning to paint the other walls in there (the room is huge - about 16ft by 10ft so it wouldn’t be an option to have it on multiple walls).

I’m not very good at matching paint colours to wallpaper so can I ask for some suggestions as to what colour paint to put with it please!

I like quite alternative styles and I don’t want it to look tacky!

TIA! X

What about the same shade of pink as the knitted throw on the bed?

Thehop · 08/09/2021 17:19

I’d go either neutral with just walnut from dulux or a very very pale blush pink.

NotYourCupOfTea · 08/09/2021 17:29

Yes just walnut or possibly gentle fawn.
Also dulux have an app now you can take a photo of the room and add a paint colour
It’s pretty good (I’ve just decorated our whole house and have been using that to help decide testers)

NotYourCupOfTea · 08/09/2021 17:30

Or blush pink again dulux (dds room was pink just rummaged through the testers we had) that was a nice one

I’d go a bit stronger and do the walls next to the plural in F&B brassica (or actually a mixed Valspar version for a kids room and a slightly grey toned white on the 4th wall.

Ask your DD.

I think it is good to allow her some control at this age.

Does it matter if it even looks "tacky" easy to paint over in a few years.
I think the wallpaper is lovely.
You could give her some ideas and discuss with her using a colour that is featured in the paper- the lavender, honey, dusty or a pale pink would all work well.

I would do a pale lilac.
