DC's School is making the boys wear blazers, trousers and ties in this heat! But girls don't have to.

I find this very discriminatory & actually demonstrates a lack of care for the kids.

AIBU to wrote and tell them?

I remember this from my high school! Boys had to keep blazers and ties on, and girls were able to take off blazers and wear skirts. And we still roasted in the airless classrooms!

YANBU - the uniform (regardless of who is wearing it) needs to be weather appropriate especially in heatwaves. Better they look a bit scruffier without a blazer than melt!

You can write and tell them, they'll eye roll and carry on!

RubySlippers123 · 08/09/2021 09:47

@RazorSharp does this mean it shouldn't be raised with them?

I don’t get this as mine aren’t in secondary school but why can’t they take off their blazers but girls can?

Lavender24 · 08/09/2021 09:52

I would tell him to take them off if he's hot and he's to tell the teachers to call you if it's an issue. That's disgusting to not allow to kids to take them off.

There is no reason in 28 degree heat which it was here yesterday inside a classroom where windows make it nore like a green house inside , that the boys should be made to wear blazers.

Unless they want kids passing out ( which used to happen.at my old school when we were able to remove jumpers) .

They are just being a dick for the sake of it
