Mid Dec this year, postponed from last Dec.

YANBU - it will, congrats
YABU - lockdown will be back, give up the ghost

ILoveANameChange · 06/09/2021 20:02

Why not?

MissCruellaDeVil · 06/09/2021 20:03

YANBU, here's to hoping I'm right and it does!

luckylavender · 06/09/2021 20:03

Nobody knows

notgotthehelp · 06/09/2021 20:03

@ILoveANameChange getting worried Covid will cancel it again!

OP posts:
neverknowinglyunreasonable · 06/09/2021 20:03

Is this about covid or your relationship? I'll keep my fingers crossed either way.

notgotthehelp · 06/09/2021 20:04

@neverknowinglyunreasonable GrinGrinwe've survived lockdowns the two of us so here's hoping!

OP posts:
TidyOmlette · 06/09/2021 20:05

I genuinely hope it goes ahead but I have an awful gut feeling that lockdown will return in October/November for Scotland anyway, not sure what Boris will plan

notgotthehelp · 06/09/2021 20:06

@TidyOmlette do you mean full lockdown or restrictions? I could cope with smaller numbers

OP posts:
GoldFrankensteinAndGrrr · 06/09/2021 20:07

I'm sure some of the doomier posters from the Covid board will be along shortly to piss on your chips, but I think it will. Even if there are some restrictions in place I think the days of banning weddings are over.

TidyOmlette · 06/09/2021 20:09

Preferably restrictions - back to the levels probably. Cases are rising horribly, my local high school closed on Friday because of the amount of possible cases with the staff. Half of the classes are empty. Genuinely hoping I’m wrong though and you have a perfect wedding with everyone you want there Flowers

notgotthehelp · 06/09/2021 20:14

@TidyOmlette thank you 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

sleepykits · 06/09/2021 20:18

I don't think they'll be any further lockdowns but I do think restrictions will come in over the winter months, especially if there are further new variants.

Good luck, I'm sure your wedding will be fantastic!

traintraveller · 06/09/2021 20:20

My wedding is in November, postponed from last year too OP. I don't think lockdown will return especially with the end of the furlough scheme. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

notgotthehelp · 06/09/2021 20:21

@traintraveller congratulations! And fingers crossed for us both!

HattieMid2 · 06/09/2021 20:21

My wedding is very end of October but feeling positive it will happen! We simply can’t afford any more lockdowns, and with the vaccine rollout, if we don’t keep open now, then when will we?
Fingers crossed for you!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 06/09/2021 20:29

Oooh christmas wedding how lovely!

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/09/2021 21:03

I don’t think there will be another lockdown. Businesss can’t survive keep doing that

Sure you will def get married but maybe just maybe numbers will be restricted if inside

We got married end of July so was literally 12days after the big 19th July

So could have as many guests as we wanted, could dance, hug, sing and obv no masks

But we would have got married anyway as third date booking, psst two cancelled , but would have been less people etc

How many guests

Figgyboa · 06/09/2021 21:09

Nobody knows but I wish you all the best

notgotthehelp · 06/09/2021 21:11

@Blondeshavemorefun congratulations and amazing timing, 3rd time lucky!

We have invited 90 but I would be happy with 50 or even 30 so fingers crossed!!!

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 06/09/2021 21:17

Then I’m sure wedding will happen if happy to have less people if need be

Icanflyhigh · 06/09/2021 22:18

I think and I hope you'll be fine.
We had 4 postponements in the end and finally did it in July - ended up bei g just 2 days before all the restrictions lifted, BUT it was perfect - we were fortunate enough to be able to move it all outside which really helped, and I know in December you might not be so lucky, but fingers crossed the figures will be down after the next big spike with the kids being back at school/uni x

notgotthehelp · 07/09/2021 09:04

News of more lockdowns from October today, so not feeling hopeful. Can't believe we might have pushed it back by a year and be in no better situation.

notgotthehelp · 07/09/2021 09:04

Thank you everyone for the replies!

OP posts:
angelopal · 07/09/2021 09:09

What is the source for more lockdowns in October?

Not sure how the government can afford it with furlough ending this month. Also they need to get the economy back on track and businesses will not survive with constant start/stop.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 07/09/2021 09:32

I’d have a back up list that’s no more than 30 people including suppliers & the registrars, and the two of you - I imagine that’ll be worse case.

We managed to get married last summer after endless postponements. Totally different to what we’d planned but I’m glad we went ahead!

Logically I think a fire break or whatever they want to call it would be unlikely; furlough will have ended, etc, but it also does seem like something we’d try and do to lower rates over Christmas…
