McDonald's Drive Thru is far slower than pre-lockdown

I understood when they re-opened they had less staff so the process took longer, but these days it's still slower, are they still using those same slower systems or taking advantage of the profit margin inrease when they have less staff?!

I thought this was just happening in our area. I’ve had two orders take over an hour on Uber Eats recently and then get cancelled after I’ve waited all that time. The first time I drove over to the drive thru and the queue was insane.

I was at McDonald's at lunch, same time as normal.

Have to say McDonald's is a huge let down these days whether it drive thru or delivery, soggy chips and burgers that seem to fall apart so easy.

I've converted to Burger King these days as the difference in quality is huge and I never thought I'd say that!!

If we order through Uber Eats we always have a really fast delivery. If we drive through ourselves the service seems slower but food seems fresher.

zingally · 06/09/2021 17:07

It always looks painfully slow to me. That's why I park up and go inside myself.

Ivy48 · 06/09/2021 17:14

I noticed this! Also the order and park up but it taking an insane amount of time near me

31 mins at collection point last night and food was cold when we got it - complained and got 10% off next order - not likely

Abouttimemum · 06/09/2021 17:32

Yeah it’s fairly slow round here no matter which method you use - drive, walk in or online. Not really fast food any more!

Starseeking · 06/09/2021 17:33

It's definitely a lot slower round our way. I think it's because more people use the service these days than ever before pre-pandemic.

Every time I go there (last time being yesterday), I can see the queue inside is only about 2 or 3 people plus delivery drivers waiting, and vow to go inside next time.

The thing that always stops me is 2 DC under 6, one with an ASD diagnosis. A few extra minutes in the drive-thru queue with both DC firmly strapped in rather than dealing with the wrangling is worth it to me! I'd never go to the drive-thru if I was by myself.

My daughter works in McDonald's. The reason they are slow is because they do not have enough people working. When they first reopened they had fewer staff to allow distancing. They have never gone back to full staff. Yesterday evening there were 3 of them doing everything. Add to this the Uber eats and just eat orders and it's chaos. Please do mention this to the managers as only they can put more staff on. Please also remember that the people working are doing their best under trying circumstances. Also supply problems are causing issues with stock levels.

Our local McDs is rammed with Uber eats and just eat - all of which seem to get priority. I think it’s been a perfect storm of social distancing and this. We waited 30 minutes in a click and collect the other day for 2 happy meals. Kids were climbing the walls 🤣
