Not starting school today

I'm just upset and need to get it out at this point 😂
My son is supposed to be starting reception today but he's in hospital and has been since Wednesday. We might be able to go home soon but he still can't go to school because he is at a risk for infection so we just don't know when he will start school.
I know rationally that I'm 20 years time the fact he didn't start reception now really won't matter but it's just so bloody rubbish for him and I'm actually really upset about it

It’s ridiculous that we berate ourselves for being upset by things like this. It’s a big milestone and sounds like you’ve had a rough couple of days. You are right, it won’t matter in 20 years but totally normal that it matters now. I hope your son is ok.

(My daughter started today too and she missed her introduction sessions before summer. I literally cried for an hour at the time!)

His first day will still be his first day when he is ready to do it. You can make a fuss and do the photo etc then
Be kind to yourself, you've got a lot on your plate

Sure it won’t matter in 20 years but it matters now. I hope he is ok.

Thank you all I just needed to be upset for a bit I'm here alone with him and I don't want to sit on the phone to family upset as they can't really do anything and I don't want them to worry about the both of us. It's just really rubbish 😂 ❤️
