Just go to bed!

My partner has always been someone who goes to sleep earlier than me. He’s never expected me to go to bed earlier but now he stays up but falls asleep on the sofa beside me/on me. He’s trying to be nice and stay up with me but because he’s dozing instead of sleeping it means I can’t move! If I want to even change the channel he wakes up by me moving. I end up eventually heating to bed earlier than I want because I feel I’m keeping him up, despite me saying he should go through! Am I horrible?

I'm not sure how you've jumped to 'horrible'?

Either way, have you talked it out with him?

CatNameChange101 · 06/09/2021 00:24

Not ‘jumped’ to horrible. Just feeling a bit like I’m being mean, not everything is meant so literally. Yep spoken to him about it, hr genuinely is just wanting to watch tv with me. He is unfortunately one of those who can be out in 30 seconds, doesn’t even know he’s going.

We have this exact problem and it’s infuriating!

Dps day starts as 5am whereas I work evening shifts so am often up in the early hours trying to wind down (like now). Our body clocks are set completely different and that’s fine so sod off to bed and stop snoring over the tele!

This is something a simple chat could fix. Just tell him how you feel. It’s really not that big of a deal.

I'm not surprisingly posting at 1.30 a night owl. My partner sometimes does that, but I move as much as I like and if he wakes he wakes. I've never hidden my lack of need for sleep.

OP, if he doesn't like it he can go up earlier.

Watch TV in bed & leave him on the couch?
