Mellifluous is rick steins favourite word. Just a fun fact.

My favourite word is serendipitous

My least favourite is bell end

My favourite phrase is comparison is the thief of joy

My least favourite phrase is "the proof is in the pudding" (because it's NOT! The proof of the pudding is in the eating!)

Best: crepuscular, vestibule.

I've always been driven irrationally mad by the phrase "Cool Beans" as a sign-off. There's something both passive aggressive and very conformist about it. I also hate the neo ironic version of the word "super".

H0neylove · 05/09/2021 23:41

Amazing Smile @kittenkipping

Haha I also dislike “cool beans” very much! @thepeopleversuswork

Pusillanimous, a word I learned from Look Back In Anger, I would have loved to have heard Richard Burton say to his girlfriend Lady Pusillanimous.

katysukaty · 06/09/2021 11:58

Mumsnet favourites: get your ducks in a row
If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck....

Worst: 'you poor thing'
hate it. None of us are things nor poor - it isn't usually used in a monetary sense, but I wouldn't like to be called poor in any sense.
Can't think of an alternative tho.

inmyslippers · 06/09/2021 11:59

Favourite- recalcitrant, salubrious, arbitrary

Worst - hollibobs

CorianderBee · 06/09/2021 20:49

Worst phrase: hot drink. I don't know why but I hate hate the word drink. I think it's the rise and fall and the n-k but it just sounds gross. Adding hot makes it more annoying.

Best: sibilance, syllabub, all the s and b/v sounds.
