Where shall I go in October?

Disclaimer: I know I'm being shamelessly unreasonable by posting this in AIBU for traffic but you lot are always excellent.

I'm planning on a few days away, possibly alone. I live in the south east...I can drive. I am a teacher but can very fortunately get the last week before October half term off.

I dream of peace, some lovely walks and a touch of luxury.

Where should I go?

The Cotswolds.

Cornwall

Cheshire. Lovely countryside to walk in, plenty of interesting castles and towns to explore. Chester is really nice for a wander too.

Oo I was going to say Cotswolds. Lovely villages. Shopping in Stow. Nice country walks. Have a lovely time!

Bourton on the Water

Thank you so much everyone! I went to the Cotswolds last year so I'd like to try somewhere else I think.

Haven't been to Cornwall since I was a kid. I think it would be a nice (quieter) time to go actually!

Another place I've been to, just this year! I agree that it's beautiful and I love Chester.

Bath?

York? A teacher friend of mine has been there this summer and loved it!

Dragongirl10 · 05/09/2021 20:13

East sussex, lovely beaches, mild climate and stunning countryside look round Rye.....I am biased as I live here and have a fantastic luxury holiday let.....!!

Another vote for York. Northumberland is beautiful as well. If you don't mind a really long drive, we often go the northwest Highlands in October half term and invariably have decent weather. The autumn colours up there are stunning.

Have you considered the Scillies. Ferry is from Penzance. It's a beautiful bunch of islands. St. Mary's is the main island but accommodation can be found on all islands.

DH and I made our way around the Wild Atlantic Way over October half term a couple of years ago. One of the best holidays I’ve ever had- although may have mostly been down to the company, but we often talk about doing it again as we saw some really beautiful parts of Ireland.

Norfolk coast.
