Toddler scared off children

Hi

My toddler who’s been going to nursery for a few months now seems to have developed a fear of other children. If a child approaches him he starts saying “no no no” to them. He’s very friendly with adults and never does this. I wonder if it’s something he’s learnt from nursery or if he’s had a bad experience there. Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Yes, sounds like he’s had a bad experience with another child approaching him. Have nursery mentioned anything? Maybe ask them?

Omg alarm bells ringing!

Do you mean he’s starting to scare them off as well as being scared of them? Or just scared of them?

He's probably found that adults are kind and supportive and look after him, whereas children can be cruel and nasty and violent and are bullies.

Nursery haven’t said anything, I guess I could ask. I don’t know if it’s just being possessive about his own space or something i else. I’ve also seen him do it once with a dog that came up close to him. He just points his finger and says no no no.

So he is scaring off children? Or scared of them? If it’s the later he will settle in
