Going to a kids party later...

Best friends daughter is having a party later..
On day 4 of broken sleep.. Not sure what's going on with my daughter but she's been waking up up to 5 times a night. I feel utterly destroying today. My eyes are like big puffy golf balls. Yesterday I was so shattered I started to feel hot and on edge.. I can't cope with another night of destroyed sleep when I'm up at 5am for work tomorrow
Please tell me how to get through a party with screaming and excited kids, I just want to cry right now 😭

How old is your daughter? Any chance you can drop her at the party and sit in the car to wait? If not, take a strong coffee with you, apologies to your friend that you’re knackered and probably not great company and find a corner to hide in.

Good luck!!

If it’s a close friend and you’re happy disclosing that you’re broken I would ask to drop off. Otherwise, lots of Coca Cola and chocolate is my go to to survive the bad sleep times. Not great advice but works for me.

Put cold teabags on your eyes for a bit, take pre emptive painkillers before the screaming drills into your brain, and drink lots of fluid.

You will get through this and there are better days and nights ahead.

Is there any way u could drop off and have 20 mins in the car sleeping?

Just let your friend know you need to sit in a corner with your eyes closed.

Just cancel. Say your symptoms are a bit COVID-y if it helps. Your first duty is to yourself. You can’t look after your daughter or do your job if you are knackered, and kids parties are torture at the best of times.

Cancel or drop the child off and come back if possible. Be honest with friend.

If this was my friend I would send them up to the spare bed for a lie down, let the child stay after the party to play, take her a cup of tea up and let the child play with mine while she rests.

Good luck x
