To get this service elsewhere?

I use a service regularly - every 8 weeks or so. I had forgotten to book another appointment after the last one and sent a message asking availability, it took a week to get back to me which was fine as I didn’t book in advance and was pleased they gave me a date in 3 weeks time.

I really like this service up till now and no issues, it’s been great.

The appointment was then cancelled very last minute by the service (45 mins before hand) and not rebooked yet. Since then I can see they are active (working) on social media as they have been posting.

I really need the appointment and now am wondering do I go elsewhere or just wait? I’ve now waited a month already and don’t know how much longer I have to wait to get rebooked. I am slightly peeved that I didn’t get rebooked in between cancelling and then posting things on social media. Surely you would rebook your cancelled clients?

Before I get flamed it’s not for me it’s for a pet, and the pet needs it. It’s something I can’t do myself. I have tried.

Cancelling 45 minutes beforehand is unacceptable. Rebook somewhere else and never use them again.

TractorAndHeadphones · 04/09/2021 22:17

Am I missing something? Did you contact them directly and chase up the rebooking? What’s stopping you from getting it elsewhere anyway - if the original rebooks you can just cancel on them?

LolaRoses · 04/09/2021 22:19

I'd definitely go elsewhere. So many businesses these days just don't seem to want custom

Mousecapade · 04/09/2021 22:36

When they cancelled I said ok, contact me with another date. Which they haven’t. I assumed as they were not available, but when I checked they are active on SM!

It was good service up till then so I am disappointed in this. It’s not just the same going to another place when they have built a trusting relationship with the animal but I feel like I now need to go elsewhere

Are you sure their social media content isn't scheduled to go out automatically? Are they responding to comments? What about messaging on SM..

It’s photos of clients

It could be that the person who does the social media isn’t the same person who does the booking. I would call them directly to sort appointments rather than wait for them to sort it over socials.

gobbynorthernbird · 04/09/2021 22:43

I haven't had my hair cut in 6 weeks. If you looked at my hairdresser's social media you'd think it was done on Wednesday. Photos aren't always posted the day they're taken.

NoSquirrels · 04/09/2021 22:47

Just send a message saying ‘Please can I get a date for the rescheduled appointment?’

If you haven’t done that yet seems an overreaction to be huffy about it. Presumably they cancelled other clients too and will be working to catch up.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 04/09/2021 23:10

Just go elsewhere!

OchonAgusOchonOh · 04/09/2021 23:23

I think you're being a bit OTT really. Why didn't you ask for a new appointment when they cancelled the first one (assuming they phoned you). If it was text or similar then a phone call a day or two afterwards would have sorted it all out.

I have an excellent groomer. She has never cancelled on me but if she did, I would just phone to rearrange as she is excellent and as far as I'm concerned, that overrides any lack of organisation or ditzyness on her part.

KrisAkabusi · 05/09/2021 00:39

What's stopping you from calling them?

Returnoftheowl · 05/09/2021 02:09

I'd just go somewhere else.

This happened to me recently. I booked my puppy in for his first groom a few weeks in advance. They contacted me with 45 minutes notice to cancel, so I booked somewhere else instead. If they are that unreliable about appointments then they can't be that bothered about having my business.

Darbysmama · 05/09/2021 02:53

I don’t think it’s fair to drag social media into this. There are many, many reasons why they might be active on social media but haven’t returned with a new appointment. Echoing others, it could be a social media manager that they work with or have hired posting. They could have pre-scheduled posts (this is what I do for my businesses, I may spend a day taking a boatload of photos, but I spread them out as opposed to doing a massive photo dump in one day… the goal is to keep people regularly engaged, not annoy them), etc.

I don’t understand why you haven’t just called them up and asked them about re-scheduling. You said you’ve never had an issue with them before, so apparently this is a one off. You also don’t say if they told you why they cancelled last minute, so you may not even know. It could have been for a reason entirely out of their control. Who knows? I think you’re fussing a lot over something a simple phone call could solve. And if your pet really needs this service and you can get in somewhere else sooner, then just book it and book your pet with the original place around the time your pet should need it again if you choose to. What’s the big deal? It’s not like there’s some interconnected network where they’re gonna tattle on you that you used another place.

Genuinely not understanding what the big deal is here.

Sadiecow · 05/09/2021 04:26

If it's grooming at pets at home, I'd give it it!

Lost count of the amount of times I've been cancelled.

Dee1975 · 05/09/2021 08:23

Cancelling last minute can’t be helped. Maybe someone was sick? A tool (that’s needed for said app) broke down? There are loads of reasons. So don’t hold that against them.

And when you replied ‘let me know another date’ - quite possibly they missed it. You prob were not the only client cancelled that day and they possibly have lots of messages to work though as well.

Just send a chaser - or better give them a call! If they still don’t reply then fine go elsewhere. None of it needs to be a big deal.

Mousecapade · 05/09/2021 09:04

It’s a really small business so no they don’t have a SM manager or anything and appts are booked over messaging. They cancelled due to illness so I didn’t feel like it was polite to message again, or call, as assumed illness was ongoing and why I had not had a response. I will message again next week then I think look elsewhere if nothing gets booked soon

I would call her, if no joy then go elsewhere. However, if we're talking specialist grooming (like hand-stripping a wire coat or something), you might have to be patient. So few groomers can do that well, and if you show your dog, you don't want her coat ruined.
