Wheelie Bin Princesses

In my naice middle class area, there are multiple able bodied wheelie bin princesses who think that putting out the bins is a 'blue' job i.e. male (obviously if in male / female relationship). Worst still is those princesses who either walk past them when they return home in the car or with the pram / kids from school and wait for their (male) partner to bring them in. I admit they annoy me more. For reference, I do both, as does DH, and I am female.
Yabnu - it is a gender neutral job
Yabu - get a life, reallife

We have a deal. DH does the wheelie bin and the bin bags and I do the litter tray.

He finds the litter tray makes him feel queasy (he's a wuss Grin ) and I hate the wheelie bins. It works for us.

Not sure why you have an issue tbh. You just do you.

MintyGreenDream · 03/09/2021 18:20

I put bins out but i may or may not keep them outside til dh brings them in coz I cba.

MintyGreenDream · 03/09/2021 18:20

Also why do you give a shit about your neighbours bins

bamboocat · 03/09/2021 18:22

DH takes the rubbish out. Not because I'm a princess, but because they are right next to where he parks his car round the back. I park out the front.

I always used to do it (lived on my own for years), and bin duty kind of became his job when I was pregnant with dc1 and he took over doing the cat's litter tray.

We don't live in your sort of naice middle class area though, so we don't count, and I couldn't care less what other people's arrangements are bin-wise.

seaandsandcastles · 03/09/2021 18:22

You’d hate me then 😂 I think it’s definitely a mans job and no I won’t be putting it out or taking it back in. It gets put out and brought back in when DH does it.

MsWalterMitty · 03/09/2021 18:25

@Chickychoccyegg

Surely first adult home after its been emptied should put it away? I most often put the bins out, I'm more organised, dh would leave it until he heard the bin lorry outside our house.
🤣 That’s me!!!..... ‘Fuck fuck fuck‘ as I run out the door half dressed... Every week!!!

I also will walk past my bin for days before I can be addressed to put it back!

AtrociousCircumstance · 03/09/2021 18:30

Maybe it’s the only household task their partners actually do, and the women do everything else. And they think, “I’m fucked if I’m doing that as well as everything else!”

Ishecheating1 · 03/09/2021 18:33

Am a wheelie bin princess. I never take bins out or in. Hubby does it, always has and probably always did. My dad used to do it. You need to stop worrying or getting annoyed at what others do in their relationship..you need to get a life lol 😆

Boatonthehorizon · 03/09/2021 18:34

I hardly ever touch the wheelie bin and certainly wouldnt when I had a baby in a pram!
Ergh!

PrtScn · 03/09/2021 18:34

My DH does the bins as he’s a lazy useless man child and it’s a simple enough task for him.

Boatonthehorizon · 03/09/2021 18:35

I know people who have it cleaned after its touched the bin van. Every two weeks.

I do envy them a bit.

AlanisMorningShed · 03/09/2021 18:36

Lol, my DH puts the bins out and unfortunately it seems to be his only job at the moment around the house so I am keeping that one sacred!

I do lots of 'blue' and all the 'pink' jobs around the house too as well as working, I'm no bloody princess.

Bobsyer · 03/09/2021 18:36

Who is curtain twitching this much to notice who does or doesn’t bring the bins in?! Grin

adoreyou · 03/09/2021 18:37

My DH quite happily walks past the full washing machine, pile of dirty clothes, plates etc etc so yeah I walk past the bin.
It's not because I'm a princess 🙄
It just doesn't bother me.

We only have a box for cardboard and it makes no odds to me if it's at the end of the drive or put nearer the house.

everythingbutthesink · 03/09/2021 18:38

Think my OH is a princess then
He's never took our bins out or brought them in. Let alone but a fucking bin bag in them....

dworky · 03/09/2021 18:39

Calling it a 'blue' job is not gender neutral.

entrytohr · 03/09/2021 18:39

I walk past ours. I look able bodied but have multiple medical conditions. I physically struggle to drag it over the grass as it doesn't fit on the flat drive with the car there. Oh doesn't have this issue so just does it.

Pleasegodgotosleep · 03/09/2021 18:40

Maybe that's the only job he does?

JudgeJ · 03/09/2021 18:41

I'm now on my own so it's all down to me, oddly enough I don't mind dragging them out but I'm very lazy about putting them back, don't know what that makes me in OP's eyes!

dreamkitchenhelp · 03/09/2021 18:42

Fuck, I spend my life trying to avoid doing the wheelie bin run as well as the car filling up jobbie; quite an achievement as we have two cars but i swap round as best I can.

But I am in the camp of the Wild Goose Hunt Lady!
Also if I have to share chocolate I always give him the smaller piece
No morals....

elbea · 03/09/2021 18:44

Spiders live in the handle of our bins, however many times I get rid of them they come back. My husband likes spiders, I don’t. I’ll happily walk past the bin because there is no way on this earth I’m going to willingly put my hand within a cm of a spider.

I do work in farming though so I wouldn’t call myself a princess, my husband thinks the idea of lambing is gross and won’t do it.

StoneofDestiny · 03/09/2021 18:46

What do you do all day when you are around at bin out/bin in times?

TenPenceMix · 03/09/2021 18:48

YANBU it's weird that people walk past their own bin... it's hardly a difficult task is it? Regardless of whose chore it is!

DoylyCarte · 03/09/2021 18:51

I hate doing bins and rubbish. Personally I do see the vast majority of potentially vile and filthy jobs I’d expect the man to do. I always judge a man who watches or goads his partner to do the grubby tasks. I just feel that seeing we’re in already in a patriarchy, why should we get the arse-end all the time?
