Normally I'm a highly motivated person.Last yr I cooked new dishes, gave up booze, did lots of walking, went almost sugar free.Leaping out of bed happily.
Always had some reason to be cheerful.
Then depression struck and while I'm having therapy due to toxic work environment and zero worklife balance.
Please tell me little things you do that you enjoy.
I'm in such a deep rut of same old.
I need new interests.

I discovered a love of cooking and baking during the first lockdown, I like creating new recipes...and eating them Grin

Walking too, I make sure I do minimum 5 miles per day and more like 10-15 per day at the weekends. Ear buds in, decent music, comfy shoes, off I go

Lagirl20 · 03/09/2021 10:40

I make sure I walk every day. There’s a really beautiful park near me, I go there sometimes and get a coffee as a treat. Also love a bubble bath with a podcast!

wishing3 · 03/09/2021 10:40

Going for a walk in the countryside. I find it really calms me when anxious.

Mercurial123 · 03/09/2021 10:42

I do jump rope (skipping) workouts. You learn a new skill with the different moves, burn loads of calories (500 in a 45 minute work out) and it gives me energy.

Damnyoureyes · 03/09/2021 10:42

Simple you say?

Getting a wash out on the line.

What my lawn looks like when it’s been cut.

Going to the tip. Love going to the tip, recycling, clearing out and decluttering.

Netflixing a series. Saving it. Pringles, chocolate, big bottle of pop, whole day to myself…. Lovely!

Coffee and cake with one of my lovely cherished friends to catch up.

The beach. Flip flops off, sand underfoot, paddle in the sea, sitting on the warm sand watching ds play.

Smells from my slow cooker.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 03/09/2021 10:44

I feed the birds, and made friends with a magpie who is bald.

Good music yes! Definitely good music.

Loud. In my car or in my ears via my pods.
Good music.

languagelover96 · 03/09/2021 10:50

Learning French makes me happy. Also right now I'm loving reading.

Bellagonna · 03/09/2021 10:50

Sneaking into my secret mum drawer while the kids are on another room and eating a Colin caterpillar

DuckDuckGooses · 03/09/2021 10:51

Splurging on a giant Starbucks and cake.

Driving to homesense and smelling all of the candles.

Buying all of the candles Grin

Baking a cake and sharing it with family.

Giving my cats surprise treats.

Daily walks - early morning or late evening when it's quiet and everything smells fresh.

Fresh bread from the local bakers, slathered in butter.

Flowers (in the home or outside!)

The fact it's only 113 days until Christmas!

bananapumpkin · 03/09/2021 10:53

It's the little frivolous things that add some colour to life!

For me, something like topping a salad with edible flowers; choosing a colour on my work spreadsheet instead of using the default; having more than one shower gel on the go and picking the one I fancy using each day.

All of these make no real difference except to make me smile Smile

JaceLancs · 03/09/2021 10:53

Browsing the library and picking loads of good books

Buying new skincare or makeup

Watching a good series or documentary

Taking the dog for a long walk

MissBattleaxe · 03/09/2021 10:58

A really nice cup of tea. Some cups of tea just hit the spot and I always enjoy the moment and go "aaaah".

Wild swimming. My wetsuit was the best £42 I ever spent. Lakes are best if you're a newbie.

A cat on my lap whilst binging a series with aforementioned cup of tea.

Lovely smells from wax melts, candles or joss sticks.

Clean bedding.

Nice perfume.

A book at bedtime

MissBattleaxe · 03/09/2021 10:58

bingeing not binging.

whatisforteamum · 03/09/2021 11:01

I agree with so many of these.just got ear pods and joined Spotify.
I've dip dyed my hair purple which has continued from lockdown and had many compliments.
I think I need to get a new cat as my beloved died of old age and I miss the afternoon naps with her.😁

Exercise - doing something everyday, whether it's going for a walk or a home workout. If I go a few days without, I notice.

Meeting up with friends - even just having a chat and going for a walk together, always makes me feel better.

Coffee in the morning - sometimes it's the only thing to get me out of bed!

Self care - simple skincare routine, keeping up with general grooming etc. makes me feel more in control.

Listening to music - when I'm walking in the park or doing housework etc.

Buying books - I have a slight problem with this, if only I had time to read them all.
