Will she get a speeding ticket?

Posting here for traffic (pardon the pun!)

DD was joining a motorway at 9pm on a section where there's a variable speed limit. The first gantry had 50 mph signs on it so she stayed below 50. The next gantry was blank and everyone sped up. The next three gantries were also blank. By this time she had sped up to 70 mph too thinking that the 50 mph restriction had finished. It wasn't until the sixth gantry that the national speed limit signs were displayed and she worried that perhaps this was the point that it finished.

What was the speed limit for the section with the four blank gantry signs? Will she get a speeding ticket?

Thank you.

The speed limit will have been 50mph until there was notification that it changed - ie, the first time it then said National Speed Limit.

However, that does not mean she will necessarily get a speed ticket. She might well be lucky.

That's what I think too. Thank you!

It depends if the gantries had the black squares but they were turned off and 'blank'. Or whether there was no screens.

If no screens - I think its 50.

If there were screens but they were blank. I would assume 70 and if I got a ticket would probably argue that one in court.
