To ask to work at the closet hospital?

I cover both hospitals, the one nearest to me is 5 minutes I work there for a week once a month. The other is 25 minutes away and I work there for the remainder of the month.

DS is starting school on Tuesday and starts at 8:45 so this means we need to buy another car so extra costs. Before he was at nursery and doing afternoons so it fitted in with everything and we only needed the one car.

I've had a think today and can't see the point in me actually going to work anymore if I have to buy another car + insurance.

AIBU to ask, I'm pretty sure she will so no as the other ladies like to work at the closer hospital as we're taking it in turns.

But I'm basically working for nothing now?

No harm in asking.

Definitely ask

What job do you do, can you get public transport to the farther away hospital. Is it shifts or office hours.

Jumpingintosummer · 02/09/2021 11:13

Worst case scenario they say no. I would ask.

ReeseWitherfork · 02/09/2021 11:14

Missing the point but remember that your current wage isn't the only reason you currently go to work.

If you are working at the farther hospital 3 weeks each month can it be more fairly split between you so you do something like a week each if they say no.

MatildaTheCat · 02/09/2021 11:19

If they say no- which seems likely- can you apply for another post at the nearest hospital?

We have a cottage hospital nearby, I was wondering if a closet hospital was an even smaller version Grin
