Even though I’m a mum

That's because you are young - you're in your twenties! And less and you're a baby Grin I'm 35, mum of two and still feel young.

Thatsjustwhatithink · 01/09/2021 18:08

You are young you nutter

Peace43 · 01/09/2021 18:08

I’m 44 and feel quite young!! You are just a baby Grin

LST · 01/09/2021 18:09

I'm 31 and recently realised how old I feel. I used to feel really young. But I can't do half of what I used to and when I look in a mirror I don't always recognise who is looking back!

Mrsjayy · 01/09/2021 18:11

On of my Dds is 29 (SIGH) yes you are still young Smile

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 01/09/2021 18:15

I was a mum of two at 26- did that make me old Confused

I'm 33, I still feel 'young'. Although I think women are fantastic whatever their age and it's about attitude and outlook and nothing to do with a number.

3teens2cats · 01/09/2021 18:17

Do you mean young as in inexperienced and immature, overwhelmed by the responsibility? Or do you just mean you still feel like you have your whole life ahead of you? The former might be a bit worrying at 29 but the latter is perfectly normal and correct.

JudgeRindersMinder · 01/09/2021 18:18

51 here and still 25 in my head! The body on the other hand…..😂

Cam001 · 01/09/2021 18:19

You are younger than my children and I still think I'm youngGrin

Firebird83 · 01/09/2021 18:20

I’m 31 but still feel about 16 in my head. It’s like I’m pretending to be an adult!

Goingbackto5oh5 · 01/09/2021 18:23

I'm 29 and also a mum of 2 but feel old 😂 I guess the back pains don't help though! I'm sure in another 20 years I'll wistfully look back on my younger years.

ApolloandDaphne · 01/09/2021 18:28

My DD will be 29 next week. I am 59 and only feel a little old. Even my 80 yo DM says she doesn't feel elderly only a bit oldish. Don't be constrained by a number!

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 01/09/2021 18:29

Hmm, you're still young at 29, but I guess having kids means that you have to "grow up" a bit more?

As in, you can't be totally selfish and put yourself first, and things take more planning. I'm in my 30s and am probably more immature and carefree than a 29 year old mum, as I haven't had kids yet so can spontaneously book a holiday in term time, or have a hangover so bad that I can't barely function, spend all my money on myself etc. You can do that with kids I guess, but it's frowned upon!

Imnewhere1991 · 01/09/2021 18:29

I'm 30 also a mum and wish I was young, I feel young but I know I'm not young..something about turning 30🥺

LadyJaye · 01/09/2021 18:38

Oh, for christ's sake.

It's not the middle ages: we have an average life expectancy that exceeds 35.

What do you want from this? People fawning over you to say how young and lovely and not old at all you are? I'm 42, and hopefully I'm barely halfway through my life - there's a lot more to come, assuming I'm lucky.

Growing older is, as they say, a privilege denied to many.

I don't have kids either (although in my case, by choice).

What I do have, like most other adults, are responsibilities: a job (at senior level, so I have a team and an organisation that depend on me), a house, a partner, pets, an extended family, an aging parent, friends, laundry, food-shopping, 'life admin' etc.

If you enjoy sleeping under a roof, eating a few times a day and participating in society, then we ALL have shit to do. Childfree people don't have a magic 'get out of jail free' card.

BrumCahoots · 01/09/2021 18:47

I'm 55 .. I still feel young ! ( mirror says otherwise) .. but I remember really getting the heebie jeebies about turning 30 .. I had a great party for my 50th though !! .. DD will turn 30 when I'm 60 .. so god willing .. we shall have a joint celebration 🍾... you are so young .. enjoy it .. and never give two hoots about what anyone else thinks !

Ifyouarehappyandyouknowit21 · 01/09/2021 18:51

I'm almost 32, mother of two schoolers and I feel old. 🤣

Hobnobsandbroomstick · 01/09/2021 18:55

@LadyJaye

I didn't say childfree people have a get out of jail free card, but having kids adds more responsibility to people's plates.

I enjoyed my 20s being selfish and spontaneous. If you have a senior level job then it's a choice that you can fairly easily change with handing in your notice. You can't really quit being a parent - definitely frowned upon!

QueenBee52 · 01/09/2021 19:12

why would anyone feel old at 29 though ?

LST · 01/09/2021 19:25

I had a hip replaced at 27. I feel ancient now
billiebeeme · 01/09/2021 20:17

29 I still felt so so young. Now 35 and I do not feel young any more at all 😟 The last year I can see the first signs of wrinkles 😫 and a couple of grey hairs!

FoxesAtDawn · 01/09/2021 20:20

I felt old at about 27. Had child and house responsibilities just before my 30th. Nearly 34 now. Feel younger than ever Grin

SoftSheen · 01/09/2021 20:20

You are young :)

Hellotoallmyfans · 01/09/2021 20:21

Im 40 and still think I'm quite young - still feel the same in my head as I did at 25!

Why, who has said you aren't young?
