Shadow shifts paid?

I am starting a new private care job directly employed by the parents of a disabled adult. No contract is available yet although I've been told it's being sorted. I've agreed to shadow another member of staff for around 5 hours next week, but I just realised the mum didn't say "obviously you will be paid".

Should I ask if being paid for this shift? It should be paid right? I will be reading through the individual's care plan in my own time.

Thanks!

You're best off asking, I've done shadow shifts in care where I've been paid and some where I was paid half and some where I wasn't paid at all back when I used to do care work so I would clarify personally.

It should be paid but you should check.

Thank you both!

It should definitely be paid.

That's what I thought! Thanks!
