Farmers are harvesting like mad at the moment. So I now have a lodger. Ran across the lounge floor last night and today it's gone upstairs and is currently waving its legs at me in the bathroom.

AIBU to leave the house right now or hope it sees sense and leaves by the open window it's sitting next to?

To leave right now?

I’m sorry to tell you, but you need to burn the house down and never speak of this again!

RyanReynoldsHusband · 31/08/2021 22:28

Leave and burn the house down

Theunamedcat · 31/08/2021 22:29

Every year someone recommends the lakeland catcher thingy every dam year I forget to buy one

Crunchymum · 31/08/2021 22:29

You may want MNHQ to put a warning on this.

That is a beast.

Mamainthemaking · 31/08/2021 22:32

Please everyone be kind to spiders. They won’t hurt you. Please don’t kill them, or send them down the plug hole with hot water. Release them outside if they bother you. 🕷♥️

Theunamedcat · 31/08/2021 22:34

Releasing them outside is a slow death so im told

Personally I tolerate some celler spiders they eat the fat ones plus I have three cats

DrWankincense · 31/08/2021 22:36

Spiders are good. I keep telling myself this but would also want to leave and burn down the house.
Booze. Just get wasted and focus on something else...or at least you'll pass out unconscious and the massive spiders can run across your face and you won't even know...

Theunamedcat · 31/08/2021 22:36

And yes im aware they won't hurt me we go through this every year its an irrational phobia im not proud of killing them im irrationally scared of spiders crabs and lobsters its irrational i get it

DroopyClematis · 31/08/2021 22:38

Pack up your children and your chattels and leave. Do not look back!
Six months at a Travelodge is nothing compared to an evening with this beast.
All good wishes to you💐

realitybites22 · 31/08/2021 22:41

@chocolateorangeinhaler yours is the sibling of this one currently residing in my bathroom sink. Have been washing my hands downstairs all day.

To leave right now?
chocolateorangeinhaler · 31/08/2021 22:50

I now need to get up for the loo. I might use the downstairs one to be safe.

It's the spider's house now...

TeachesOfPeaches · 31/08/2021 22:54

Get a spider catcher from Amazon, they're great and don't harm the spider

Timeforabiscuit · 31/08/2021 22:57

All large spiders are called "Fred" here, last week Fred took up residence on the living room ceiling, dh now spends his evenings in the dining room as he prefers hard chairs and a small laptop screen for his evening viewing (rather than admit he would very much like the spider to be gone!)

Mishuckliza · 31/08/2021 23:11

I’d be more scared of other humans! It’s a spider! What’s it going to do? Stab you? Run you over? It’s just trying to live like we all are x

romany4 · 31/08/2021 23:20

Well it is spider shagging season at the moment...
I'd rather shag indoors than outside too

Nat6999 · 01/09/2021 00:59

I have one with his own Web in my hall, he is very accommodating, I just waft all flies towards his Web & he eats them for me, he has nearly doubled in size, his name is Norman.

Time40 · 01/09/2021 01:17

You wouldn't like to have seen the one I've just put out ... I didn't know they could get so big in the UK ...

phishy · 01/09/2021 01:18

Meh, I would catch and release that baby in seconds.

starfishmummy · 01/09/2021 01:23

The problem with leaving is that you will have to come back at some point and by then you won't know where the critter is any more and it may creep up on you unseen. Better to stay and watch its every move

slowtik · 01/09/2021 01:40

Are you in crack? Look at the fucking size of it!!! It's a bouncer spider. Op will be kicked out her own house by that fucker!!
Mintjulia · 01/09/2021 01:50

Just grab it in a tea towel and throw it out of the window. You can pick the towel up tomorrow.

You won't sleep unless you do.

Maddison12 · 01/09/2021 01:56

Yes move out. When you return in winter (do spiders die in winter?) Anyway when you return you need a cat, I've just seen my two fight over a large spider then one of them ate it, complete with very loud munching noises 😱🤢

MissCruellaDeVil · 01/09/2021 02:00

Oh gosh no, burn the house down!

CiaoForNiao · 01/09/2021 03:09

Fuck me that needed a warning on the title. Bastarding 8 legged twat.
