Sleeping on a sofa?

Writing this thread off the back of reading another, I currently (past 2 years) sleep on the sofa. This is through necessity really we are overcrowded in the house and DS has additional needs and stays downstairs in what was the dining room for safety reasons DP stays in there with him and the other children share the bedrooms. DS only really sleeps from 1 to 5 anyway and I can't settle until I know he's sleeping soundly. But my question is it had never occurred to me that there may be health implications to sleeping every night on a sofa?? (I know 4 hrs a night isn't enough sleep but that something I can't do much about at the minute)

I've Googled this before OP, after feeling rubbish sleeping on the sofa while we were waiting for a new bed and mattress. This ties up with what I found. Sore neck, sore back, pain the next day.
"Sleeping on the couch once in a while probably won’t harm your long-term health, although you may wake up with a crick in your neck. That said, sleeping on your sofa every night can put you at a higher risk for some health conditions, such as chronic back pain and neck pain. If you do sleep on the couch, position yourself on your back and support your neck with a firm pillow."
If that's not bothering you though, then I wouldn't worry about it.
If your DS is waking you anyway, would you be comfier in the dining room once in a while instead of your DP?

Surely it depends 100% on the sofa?
I bet a lot of people's beds give them back pain; certainly our mattress is ancient and lumpy .... I think I'd be much better off on the sofa!

Probably @Ericaceae but I want the freedom to move around the house and if he's snoring on the sofa it just irritates me!!

@EmeraldGreenVelvet good point!
