To want help finding skinny jeans that aren’t “super skinny”

Sorry I’m posting here for traffic.

I’m 5ft9, a size 16L - 18L depending on the brand. I have a big belly but no bum, and legs that are slim for my size.

I’m probably a 16 in my legs and bum and an 18 on my waist 🙄

I’m 40, would like to be trendy but I’m not!

As much as I hate them, I look better wearing skinny or very slim jeans and a slightly looser top.

Problem is I feel that most skinny jeans are actually super skinny - like a second skin. I want a skinny fit that isn’t like a stretchy denim over my skin. I also don’t want them to be totally flush against my ankle. I don’t want boot cut or anything like that though.

I feel like when skinny was new, more of them were like this? Like skinny used to be more of a very very slim.

Can anyone help with recommendations please?

Esprit have a "slim fit" that might be what you're after. They have a variety of styles to choose from.

There are some in the sale section too

During lockdown, I desperately needed new general purpose (not going out) jeans so ordered from M&S... one pair high skinny and one pair slim fit. The slim fit, I wear all the time and are like you describe- not tight all the way down but fitted with a little fabric spare on the ankle.

Oh wow yes - looking at their slim mid rise, they look like skinny jeans but not super skinny jeans.

However I’m not sure the largest size will fit me. I went through the size questions and they suggested 33/34 but on their actual size charts an 18 is a 35

Not sure why I never think of M&S. I have one near me so can pop in and pick some up.

I’m stuck in a Next rut and have been for years

I am a 16/18 and have very wide calves and ankles. Matalan's relaxed skinny jeans are my go to. They are technically skinny but look quite nice and aren't squeezing me anywhere. And they are higher than my belly button which is great seeing that my flabby belly looks like a melted church candle these days.

I'm a similar height and weight and m&s are my go up for jeans and jeggings.

Fab thanks!

I pooped in earlier but they only had regular and short lengths so I am going to do a click and collect order tonight. Fingers crossed I get some!

Returns are free which is good for checking the fit. They do have a "curvy" range too.
