I've made some soap...lovely handmade soap and I want to make some wrappers for them to give to family with fun, jokey phrases on them which will appeal to the recipients.

The soap bars each measure 58mm by 80mm by 22mm

Now if I were to print out an image with the words I want across the image on normal A4 printing paper, what size should I make the image?

The words will be on top of the image if you see what I mean...so the whole picture which I want to have on top of the bar should cover the top surface and then I'll cut them out so I can wrap each soap the way you do a gift.

If that's not clear...sorry! I find this sort of thing hard to wrap my head around. I'm using Canva to make them.

58mm x 80mm

With a 22mm × 29mm × 40mm border

Gingernaut · 30/08/2021 12:31

Sorry, with each border measuring

(22mm + 29mm) x (22mm + 80mm)

The soap bars aren't very big, are they?

Gingernaut · 30/08/2021 12:35

Again

Centre image the size of the top surface

From each outer edge, the minimum border needs to cover the sides of the bar - 22mm

The the wrap has to cover the underside - so it has to cover 58mm x 80mm, but each part of the wrap has to meet half way.

Fuck it. I'll try to draw a diagram. Bear with me.

I hope this makes sense

This is real easy. That diagram gingernaut drew, make 3 boxes in your program to match the sizes you need. copy and paste them a few times and assemble the shape. Actually looking closely she might have more than 3 because she drew the overlaps slightly smaller. You can handle that how you want.

Now you can see your wrapping shape on your paper. Does it fit?

You can also see where to put any markings you want.

For printing, just set the lines of the boxes to clear as the color or delete them.

Driftingblue · 30/08/2021 13:23

Oh, never mind, no overlaps on gingernauts, she just split the bottom whereas I generally leave it on one side. Just a different style.

Thank you...this helps me see it in my mind! The diagram really helped but it will fit exactly...rather than being able to wrap it like a gift which is what I envisioned....then I can seal the back.
