Dd has eupd and was in crisis. The nurse told her she should only be inpatient for 24 maximum. Surely if someone is a danger to themselves they need at least a couple of weeks inpatient.

It is possible for a crisis to not last long, especially with EUPD.

Are you sure she said maximum of 24hrs? If so, she might have said it to encourage your DD to agree to being inpatient. It’s harder to section someone now and so they try and get people in real crisis to agree by telling them it’s “only for 24hrs” etc.

In my experience, whatever they tell you when you are admitted is the minimum, not maximum because they still have to assess you as stable or not high risk before they can discharge you.

Yes he definitely meant max 24 hours as he said longer can be harmful.

I've heard that hospital stays can be counter-productive for people with EUPD, this might be why?
