To feel so lonely - Billy no mates

I tend to get on with people generally, in work and social settings. However (and particularly since lockdown) I seem to do a square sum of absolutely nothing socially.

I see my good friends from uni once a month, and it’s great, but they all live far away and have their own lives.

How do I make friends as an adult in a non cringeworthy way?

Totally feel your pain there.

It’s hard.

@WhatisanODP maybe I’m just destined to hang out with my cat 😂

I don’t even have a cat!

I do have a tortoise. He just glares at me.

😂

Any local groups starting up? Catch people's eye and smile then say something. Park run?

Just do what you are into, amateur dramatics, birdwatching, politics, volunteering at Brownies or Samaritans, Church, Coven, Art classes, Gym, Gaming, Cycling, Running......and then get chatting to people. It takes a bit of time but you'll get there and even if you don't make friends you will be doing something or learning something for you.

At work is there anyone you would like to know better? Ask them for a coffee or to see a show.

Join an online group specially to meet people?

You do have to put the effort in though. If you're asked along to something then say yes.

Are you outdoorsy?
