Can any photoshop wizards or artistic talents help me with something personal for my DH and MIL?

Posting here and in Chat for traffic.

My DH’s beloved Grandad is 84 and very unwell- he’s currently receiving palliative care and we don’t expect him to last much longer.

My DS is the first (so far only) grandchild/great grandchild and thanks to covid GFIL has only met him a couple of times. The most recent occasion was early July when MIL took DS with her to visit GFIL in his care home- we didn’t know it then but that was going to be the last time GFIL saw DS.

While they were there MIL took this lovely picture of them both. The only thing is that GFIL still has his walking frame in front of him- she’s said so many times how she wishes she’d moved it out of the way, and that it spoils the picture for her.

I’ve made several attempts at tweaking the picture myself with the very basic software I have on my laptop and I’ve also had a go at drawing it, but I have all the artistic skill of a drunk elephant, and so far haven’t really been able to produce anything decent.

Is there anyone out there who could have a go at magic-ing away the walking frame somehow? I’d love to be able to give MIL and DH a nice framed copy that they can keep.

I don’t have a lot of money to throw at the problem but happy to pay if anyone could recommend a reasonably priced professional.

Thanks.

I can't help I'm afraid but that is a wonderful photo and I can see why you'd like it fixed. I'm sure it can be done by someone with the right know-how and will be a treasured memory.

@ImTheOnIyUpsyOne - have you tried the touch retouch iPhone app? It's a couple of £ but meant to be really good for removing objects Smile

ArielFelix · 29/08/2021 18:27

You can get a 3 day free trial with the touch retouch app @DuckDuckGooses mentioned so if you cancel the trial within 3 days (usually you can cancel straight away and it will honour the time you have left), then it will be free.

Imafraidimnotmyself · 29/08/2021 18:35

They are some great Facebook groups that can help with that, one is Edit my photos for free, but there are a few. Hope someone can help, it's a lovely picture!

ImTheOnIyUpsyOne · 29/08/2021 18:44

I’ve tried the app but with the patterned armchair and where GFILs collar is it goes a bit… weird!

I'll ask my friend.

00100001 · 29/08/2021 21:54

Have asked, sent him your thumbnail to see if he thinks he can do it. 👍

If says he thinks so, I'll PM you about a better quality image for him to work with

ImTheOnIyUpsyOne · 29/08/2021 21:54

Graphic designer here; also happy to have a go, if you end up needing another shot at it

3luckystars · 29/08/2021 22:05

I would ask someone to paint it if you have the money.

OMG what a lovely photo. Grin Your son is adorable, and your grandad looks so sweet.

I don't think the walking frame matters really, but I hope someone can help you soon @ImTheOnIyUpsyOne

youvegottenminuteslynn · 29/08/2021 22:32

Such a lovely picture! Can't do it myself as not in my skillset but please do try fiver, someone would do this for you within 24 hours for under £5.

RainRainGoAway12 · 04/09/2021 20:41

This is really nosy, but did you manage to get this done? And, if so, I don’t suppose you would share the finished image with us? This post really stayed with me and I’m really hoping for a happy ending Smile
